Interesting point about the kiss , my wife met Frankie Dettori in Zermatt about 12 years ago and she got a kiss on the cheek that she didn’t want to wash off as well.

Be about the same era we saw CD in Vegas , she put a damn good show on ,well worth going to see.
Bearing mind the height of Frankie Dettori which cheek did he kiss?

Years ago, I was waiting for the lift in the car park of Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
Ding! The door opened and Céline Dion was in there with a couple of well built guys in suits, I assumed that they were her minders, one was speaking to her in French.
Figuring that I had no chance, I stood still, but she beckoned me in.
I thanked her quietly in French, and you would have thought that I was a long lost uncle, firstly she asked where was I from in Québec, I said that I was from London, but I spoke French a little.
She said that I should learn Montréal slang in case we met again, and kissed my cheek as we got to my floor, I told my wife that I was going to lean back in the shower, so as not to wash the kiss off.

I never used to believe my dad when he said he was stood between JFK and MacMillan in an official photo.

He was serving on HMS Vidal at the time of the Nassau agreement and formed part of the guard.

Bill Bryson’s son bought my parents house, there is nearly a mention of it in his last book on the U.K.

And my mum went to school with Nigel Mansel.

While visiting Stratford-upon-Avon a couple of years ago, I briefly shared a pedestrian crossing island with the fine actor David Bradley (creepy old newsagent in Broadchurch, Argus Filch in Harry Potter etc).

He was carrying a Marks and Spencer plastic bag.

I wondered when the Nassau Agreement was (1962), so I Googled it - and there's your Dad again!

Is he still with us? How old is he?

Still with us, and he's 86. Physically very frail but sharp as a tack. He's missing his naval reunions though because mum won't let him drink rum in the house!

He would have been eligible for National Service. Did he volunteer and sign on for the Navy?

Signed up and did 12 years, 52 to 64.
He was an airframe engineer, started on piston engined aircraft and transferred to 1st generation helicopters.

Was meant to have been on the Mall for the coronation but swapped it for a long weekend!

I really need to get his stories written down, he has some absolute crackers.

JFK had severe back problems and wore a corset a lot of the time.

IIRC, Kennedy had some serious back issues?

Similar time to my dad. He was 56 to 65. His first ship was a world tour on the carrier HMS Albion, then went to submarines.

I did National Service. I had put down for the navy, they weren't taking many National servicemen in those days. I went for my medical at Bromyard Avenue in Acton. A bloke came came out of one of the offices, called out my name, said "you've put down for the navy". "Are you willing to be an engineering mechanic?" I had previously been told this meant 'stoker'. So I said no. I sometimes wonder what would happened I had said 'yes'?

Sam Fox lives over the back of my house. Well, over the back, 100yds left left and across the lane, to be more precise. Apparently you can't see through the fence.
