That american sitcom "Friends". Some colleagues in work were discussing how apparently great it was. No it wasn't! It was the biggest load of absolute fking stE in the world! Canned laughter, humour of the lowest common denominator. Thank fk it rarely gets aired anymore!
Funny you should say that, but ever since the show was cancelled there was always a TV channel in the UK showing weekly repeats. A few years ago when that finally stopped, it was in the news about how 10 years on, or however long it was, this would be the first time that a station was not showing repeats etc. Then a few months later, another channel started showing them again.

So nothing like Kitt from Knight Rider
Not really. Kitt's array scanned left and right. This starts from all LEDs off, then lights them in sequence until all are on, then switches all of them off, then starts again. So a completely different lighting sequence. Edited by PanzerCommander on Thursday 30th July 14:12

In 1994, I invented (in my head, obvs) brake lights with five sections, which reflected the amount of pressure applied by the driver.
I figured that if you knew that the idiot in front was one of those people who just dabbed their brakes constantly (1-2 bars) then you would just drive with impunity, but if you got a full five bar glow, you'd know that braking is a good idea.
Also, when stopped, because so many people sit with their foot on the brake, only one bar would show to reduce glare.
Audi is clearly taking tentative steps towards my masterplan for world domination.
Hey, hang on a minute, I thought of having brake lights that reflect how much pressure is being applied, so you could differentiate between someone riding the pedal and someone standing on it in an effort to stop in less distance than physically possible. In my head, of course :-)I figured that if you knew that the idiot in front was one of those people who just dabbed their brakes constantly (1-2 bars) then you would just drive with impunity, but if you got a full five bar glow, you'd know that braking is a good idea.

Woud it encourage people to not bother braking (to a dangerous extent) if they don't think the person in front is stopping quickly enough? Or would it mean rear light untis having to be too big to form the five easily observable segments? Or do too many people struggle with counting to five?
It's much to sensible to gain traction, especially in the world where 'progress' in designing lights means moving the indicators inside the headlight so they can't be seen at night.
My 2002 BMW 325Ti had brake lights that either lit a semi circle for 'standard pressure' or a full circle for 'oh st we're going to hit'.
eidted to add '1972' as date of Ogle's car.

Filling in on-line forms that have 3 lines for the address, with separate lines for town, postcode and country but your address is a single line yet it still requires all 3 address lines to be filled in. With what?!?
and another one!If it says "Optional" it means I don't have to put a number in, so why give me a fricking error!!

The rear indicators on the latest Audis (seen on both a 2015 A6 and a 2015 Q3).
Rather than blinking on and off, they have a strip of LEDs which scroll from inside to outside like a 1980's LED VU meter, or a Progress bar in Windows, or whatever.
I don't know why this annoys me, but it does.
Because it serves no purpose and is showy for the sake of it. Waste of time and money.Rather than blinking on and off, they have a strip of LEDs which scroll from inside to outside like a 1980's LED VU meter, or a Progress bar in Windows, or whatever.

This evening I will mostly be moaning about saunas.
More specifically the morons who don't know how to behave in them..
The prize moron this evening came in. Sat down with a thump, noisily slurped from some disgusting milk shake thing, laid down, sat up, got up, sat down put head in hands, made grunting noises, left and came back with a swim float to sit on, slurped, ran hands through hair and generally fking fidgeted for the whole of the 6mins he was in there and then left.
Peace at last.
Then the door opens and in come the group of gym wkers from the jacuzzi talking about how pissed they are going to be tomorrow night. You know the sort, just done 90 mins biceps, legs like bits of cotton hanging out of baggy shorts. Then we listen to the debate on how much they can dead lift, then there is a pause when they realise it's hot and then the fk off to the steam room because they think 2 girls just went in there.
I just sit there with a faintly cross expression.

I am on the train.
Where did I get on the train?
At a station.
Where will I get off the train?
At a station.
What do the train companies call stations?
Calling points.
Station/stop.
WTF.
How many passengers are so dim that they muddle up places the train stops that are not stations or get confused by stations the train passes through without stopping?

People who start threads on PH to ask the dullest, simplest, repetitive questions which get brought up week in, week out because they can't be bothered to search the answer out for themselves.
You utter, utter, lazy, bellended morons.
The people that entertain them with answers are almost as bad, this thread epitomises you all.

Against C&U regs, I believe.
And yet I have seen it. I had assumed that it was OEM but perhaps it was after-market. Who knows.

Not a new idea. My 1968 car has factory fitted sequential indicators. Rather than blinking on and off, they have a strip of LEDs which scroll from inside to outside like a 1980's LED VU meter, or a Progress bar in Windows, or whatever.

Also, they're otally legal as long as they're orange.
