Not a lot you can do with your external gas pipe, but waste water going into rain water?
Usually these are kept separate, your sink/washing machine/dish washer water would go into the foul waste and off out and your rain water into it's own, an old drum though so could be different, adds character.
Ours all go into the same place (rain, loo, bath, sink) AFAIK that's standard. I agree that it shouldn't be - if 100 years ago they'd laid 2 sewer pipes then the rainwater one could go direct to the river and the foul to be processed (although that would mean oil etc from roads polluting rivers), but they didn't and now it would be a massive job to split them up. It may also be that having more flow shifts the st faster to the sewage works and lessens blockages.Usually these are kept separate, your sink/washing machine/dish washer water would go into the foul waste and off out and your rain water into it's own, an old drum though so could be different, adds character.
If you live out in the sticks then you probably do want them separate - soakaway for rain and cess pit for foul.

That has to be photoshop because no one could make that error surely!
I can assure you it isn't, I took the pic. It made me laugh when I saw it and I couldn't believe it was left like that, probably since the 80s too looking at the style.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
