One for the Too High TV thread?

I saw the smashed up remains of one of those TVs earlier this week, I think I have seen one working once in a pub though. How on earth do you even watch that? It looks too far away for the remote to work.
The wire is trailing across the room behind it. It only needs someone to catch the wire and pull on it whilst someone is sitting on the settee and the person on the settee will have the TV land on his head.

That actually looks like a rear projection tv, if it is HTF did they get it up there, and how will they view it at that angle, especially with the low light level and poor resolution they have!?

How about marketing a new build house with a nice picture of a family pet dog indoors....

When video recorders did not come with plugs fitted it was not uncommon to put the wires over the socket and plug something else in over the top.

A friend of mine installe a light and socket in his shed using bell wire and CB coax held together using sellotape.

My dad used to improvise an additional double plug socket next to a single socket, wiring it in himself. He was nowhere close to being an electrician and I was always afraid to ask how he did it! I’ll try and get a photo if I can ever get to their house again!

I work in property, and some of these bodges aren't out of place with a particular demographic of landlord. The Fitness for Human Habitation Act is designed to rid the lettings market of such horrors, but in reality this stuff will always be around. When I was a student 20 years ago, our landlord dealt with a toilet leaking into the kitchen by using a sealant gun to seal up the ceiling...... I've also seen a landlord use a can of white spray paint to cover up mould prior to an environmental health visit. Grim stuff.

yikes It looks like something straight from my repeated nightmares where I'm trying to have a dump in a public space, ie. toilets in corridors/waiting rooms/etc. with people walking past/sat near me. I think I need counselling of some sort. biggrin
