I see the itchiness, but separately, how will it fit on a single socket wall box? If it fits a double one, it can't possibly fit a single one.

It must sit quite proud of the original socket

I can't really fathom how it fits a double either given how deep the pins are on a plug, it's going to be poking through your plaster work.

I assume it's somewhere in China, the Chinese for four sounds like the Chinese for death, so it's considered unlucky and many building have no fourth floor and some skip any floor with a four in it so you get 38, 39, 50, lots of buildings skip floor 13 too.

Superstitions are ridiculous.

indeed. Or did it slip me by that only buildings who do not have any of those floors manage to avoid spontaneous destruction?

I actually fitted one of these a few weeks back in my utility room. It's just slightly deeper than the pins on a plug. And it CAN be fitted to a single or double socket.

You wouldn't want it in your lounge, but it's ok for a utility room or similar.

Ahh, I see, so the illustration on the instructions is a bit deceptive. I trust you worked through the instructions in order wink

Yes, that makes sense if it just sits on the wall in front of a recessed back box. Not much different than those that just have a three-pin plug on the back surface in that regard, just a little more difficult to fit. A bit nicer perhaps.

It's not just China, but also Korea and Japan that have that 'superstition' or aversion to the number four (which, I have also been told is because it sounds like the word death).

I'd found this out, having asked the question of a Korean colleague a long time back, as to why machines always skipped series 4.

And that's why Chinese and Korean cars don't have a fourth gear ...
