I'd disagree. Toyota / Lexus dealerships get continually high marks, as usually do the likes of Skoda, Hyundai and Honda. After that I'd imagine you've got a sliding scale.

...but from the sheer # of stories vs # of cars on the road, JLR (& LR/RR in particular) have GOT to be near the bottom of the tree.

I suspect the dealerships aren't helped by parts-unavailability from the OEM, and (anecdotally - no evidence for this) a rather 'challenging' approach to warranty claims by the OEM meaning dealers aren't quite so quick to take the customer's side than say a Toyota or Hyundai dealer would be. But still...

They are all bad in my experience. I had a new Toyota (a while back now) where they had a manufacturing issue with the Bosch brake pads which has hard spots which scored the discs. Their answer was that the pads would be replaced and they would skim the discs. I told them to get fked. It was a brand new car, replace both the pads and the discs.
Skoda dealer (company cars this time) were always wanting to do unnecessary work. Wanting the car to be re-booked in for brake pads and discs that were not even half worn (and not even half worn at 60K miles so not likely to be on bare metal any time soon). They also never fixed any faults. I stopped bothering reporting them and moved onto another manufacturer.
