ION, an English mate who is under the channel en-route back to Blighty, is currently eating some Ham, some Ham that he bought in Brugge this morning, the price? For sliced Ham? €195 per Kilo.
Good quality ham is a wonderful thing. Not that waaaafer theeen mint stuff you get in a supermarket, but huge hocks of the stuff. Germany seems to be good for pig.
In fact, when once entertaining moi in an evening in Heidelberg, I meandered down a strasse musing to myself the quality of the buxomness of the auf deutsch wenches theirin, only to pass a pub serving pig.
It was pig in all it's forms. What drew my attention as I passed was a picture in the window with an explaination that went 'a delicate morsel of pigs noses filled with cream'.. and some Gunther showing said morsel entering his von trap. I meandered further along the road on to a restaurant where the word butcher had been lost upon those carving meat. The hunk of pig was so badly presented, I was more inclined to think that it had been delicately hand carved by chainsaw than knife.
Germany, where pig reigns and noodles follow.
I do prefer cow to pig...
