Odd. Why not just let them do what they do before/after eating ie play in the playground? Or sit in a class and study. Or whatever they do.It's always the mouthy parents isn't it.
"Although the volume of communication has been from significantly few parents it is now interfering with the daily management of the school and detracting from our focus, which is the education of all children at Newport."
Waltham Forest Council said Newport Primary School was issued with advice from Public Health England.
Councillor Mark Rusling said:" The school concerned serves a large Muslim community, the majority of whom have supported this policy."

I read that earlier. I don't quite get it.
Are they saying that if a child, or their parent chose for them to stay in school, the school was going to force feed them lunch?

No I think the implication from the school was that as it is far from natural for a child to fast it was having an affect on their learning, as such they should be picked up and taken home for a rest/nap during the lunch period in the hope they could have some hope of learning in the afternoonMost parents agreed, a small subset did not like having to interrupt their day to take care of their offspring even though it was their decision for the children to fast (not the schools).
This small minority were then so vocal and disruptive the school were spending vast amounts of time dealing with the issue so backed down as to not impact the education of the remaining pupils

My daughter did (when she was 10). She's ultra-competitive with her elder brother, so whatever he could do, so could she. I did ask her not to but she pretty much insisted.Actually what I said was that as the muslim male head of the household my word was law and I demanded she obey my command. She treated that request with the same respect her mum does.

And thats fair enough, but there will be other households where the child doesn't have that choice I am sure. This isn't an anti muslim thing, I get just as irritated when other people foist their beliefs on people too young to make their own decisions, like Vegans
Im working in central Africa, we have a lot of Egyptians working for us. Managers down to guys digging holes.
From 2 years working here the production of these guys (At all seniority level) is poor at the best of times but during Ramadan they may as well not turn up.
An hour late in the morning, 2 hour lunch and at least an hour early finish. Quicker its over the better.
But I guess I have to admire the dedication especially those of you working in hot countries. 34 degrees here today. I cant survive 30 min without water.

Out of interest, why a 2 hour lunch if they can't eat or drink or smoke? Why not just work through and finish early (if possible)? From 2 years working here the production of these guys (At all seniority level) is poor at the best of times but during Ramadan they may as well not turn up.

Me and most people I know just adjust to it after a few days, it's supposed to be hard, that's the point of doing it
But as we have been through countless times there are good and bad Muslims, those that aren't following what they are supposed to do, well they are only fooling themselves
I see little point of you lot constantly polluting this thread with this and that about some Muslim bloke at work
If your so concerned go ask those guys you see everyday at work and have a discussion with them

Just as well there is not a "Ramadan" that requires you to refrain from sex, more interesting thread then But as we have been through countless times there are good and bad Muslims, those that aren't following what they are supposed to do, well they are only fooling themselves
