This is an Irish-ism. I think it's a general drop the "to be" part of a sentence.
'To be' - or not 'To be': that is the question.

A very, very nasty one from the US currently is 'Lean in"...which seems to mean, push hard, show initiative, get involved with the team or something....

"In order to get the new ProtoLagget v.4 ready to ship, I want you all to really LEAN IN.."....

Common in tech firms, quite horrible.

My sister-in-law is American. This annoys me more than trunks, sidewalks and all that jazz.

Maybe they only do one sum, so math, as a singular noun, would be correct?

Not really an Americanism, an old English word (as in English English) that has fallen out of use here.
