Odd things your family members do: My dad keeps crisps in the fridge. Not opened packets, but at any one time he'll have three or four packets of Walkers or McCoys on the chill
Chilled crisps are more crunchy.

I once knew someone who did something like this - he was picking his daughter up after work and driving her home. She didn't have a car and he didn't want her walking home alone that late at night

I live in a block of flats which has "casual parking" for 6 cars, then a bit of on-road parking. The neighbour in #8 promptly runs down to his car and moves it from the road to the off-road parking as soon as he sees a car that has been parked in the "casual parking" leave the road. I swear he sits in his kitchen watching for cars to leave. Worst part, he parks like a t**t every time he parks in the casual parking bays... Odd, and annoying.
SORNED but using it?

A chap in my road has a nearly new Mondeo. It's cleaned & polished at least 3 times a week. That's bearable.
Every couple of weeks he takes the wheels off to clean the insides & the brakes:arches. That's a bit extreme...
You don't want to know what the AMOC concours crowd get up to.

I believe that's the point where Rule 34 has kicked in.

no so much an odd thing, but something which i never thought i'd be bothered by until he's been doing it every day for 3 months...

the old parking at the front of someone else's house thing... my house to be exact.

We live on a cul-de-sac where everyone has a driveway, so it's not an on-street parking nightmare road. We live at the entrance to the cul-de-sac, and we have a wider bit of pavement so it is possible to park entirely on the pavement and still leave loads of space for people to walk past in safety. I know it's not OURS, and we have a double driveway so we don't use it unless someone visits... but I think this guy now thinks it's HIS.

Weird neighbour. She's in her 40s, married to a great bloke, but he is totally under the thumb. 2 kids, 11 and 13 (our's aree 11 and 10)

We live in a small T shaped cul-de-sac. When we moved in it was only from the neighbouring village, so the removal men used 3 luton vans instead of a large lorry. The removal men carefully made sure they didn't block any driveways, including our neighbour. Soon after we arrived she drove in to the street and reversed in to her driveway, next door to us. So Mrs Puggit goes to say hello, and the woman hid in her car. Eventually she came out and shouted at Mrs Puggit that the vans needed to move as she was very busy. Then she stormed indoors followed by Mrs Puggit's "lovely to meet you too!"

Puggit Jnr eventually met the girl, who is the same age - and they formed a great friendship. But he would always go next door to ask to play, and they would always come back to our's. Eventually the mother ended the friendship by using different excuses each time our son went around. We have since moved our son in to the local school - the kids are in the same class and great friends - but he's still not allowed next door.

She won't share lifts to/from school with us. So we share with another house in the street (different year at school). She actually blanks us while holding court in the pagoda in the school grounds at pick up time. Some of the other parents at school also get the cold shoulder. She was friends with one, until suddenly it went cold. As they passed in the street one day, the third mother (who knew she was cold-shouldered) said hello and was met with a 'go f... yourself'

Every window is the house is permanently closed. Even on 30-plus degree days.

Today we have a couple of visitors, we've put one on our drive and one outside the house. House opposite has a small get-together with 3 extra cars, all outside their house. Neighbour has deliberately moved her car outside her house (from her drive) to stop anyone parking there.

Postman fell foul of her for leaving parcels with our predecessors. She hurled abuse at him. He now makes her drive 7 miles to the post depot to collect them (he leaves our's in a safe place we asked him to).

Weirdly we have friends who attend the neighbour's gym classes that she hosts - they say she's one of the nicest people they know. Everyone in the street begs to differ.

Since I last posted we have moved thankfully. To summarise we had 11 completely trouble free years followed by some kind of mental breakdown next door. Spying and other bits of ad behavior essentially starting as a reaction to me buying Porsche as far as I know.

Anyway we moved out and the new owners have a very large dog they leave in which has been barking constantly with the Windows open to boot. 2 weeks in and they have had a stand up swearing and all argument over noise. They also have a lot of people coming round for parties etc. We were dead boring and quiet as mice.

Karma. Sweet Karma

Just spotted this thread and need to report my neighbour.
We live in a row of 5 houses, all new builds completed last year so we all moved in at the same time. The middle three houses are the same and the two end houses are slightly larger.

When the houses were being built we had the choice of which of the three houses we wanted. The houses are exactly the same, but what swung it for me was the middle house of the row had a small strip of garden between the two parking spaces and a street lamp. The extra space between our spaces made me choose this one.

Now, the developers in their infinite wisdom, forgot to complete the strip. Other areas have a few plants and some wood chip.
So this strip of soil was prone to weeds which have been particularly prevalent (especially thistles) in the last couple of months.

Anyway, to bring this back to weird neighbours, I've recently noticed someone has planted rows of herbs in it.
So this is communal land, between two parking bays, between two parked cars! has been turned into an allotment!

After a lot of hassling the developers tell me they're going to grass the strip of land - which will make it different to other communal gardens, will need more maintenance than other areas and, according to them, was seeded weeks ago. It wasn't.

Unless I've misunderstood completely, are you saying your neighbours have planted herbs next to the road at roughly exhaust height?! Cheaper than drugs I guess... hehe

A few doors down a neighbour (Eastern Europeans) obsessively keep their gardens immaculate. To the blade of grass immaculate. Their two cars are cleaned every other day beautifully and their daughter is very friendly (and also a looker!).

Their gardening and car cleanliness put my respective two areas to shame.

I wouldn't consider that an odd thing to do. anally retentive, sure. But not odd.

Nosy cow next door wants me to cut my hedges right down as 'they spoil her view down the street' - which roughly translated means she can't keep an eye on the neighbours over the road ( she's a curtain twitcher par excellence ).

Told her I'd far rather look out onto greenery than be able to see the houses opposite, so the hedges stay

When one car isn't being used they cover the other with a car cover weighed down with 2lt old milk Plastic bottles on pieces of string.

TBH they are dream neighbours. My car looks like it could do with an occasional wash

I've posted this on another thread (the "stuff that winds you up beyond reason" one), but it's equally relevant here.

My neighbours opposite ALWAYS have their front door open. Sometimes a bit, sometimes a lot. But ALWAYS open.

We live in a nice area, low crime, all that jazz, but it's still an odd thing to do, in my opinion.

Bloke across the road was vacuum cleaning his car at quarter to ten on Wednesday night. Very irritating.
