Odd things your neighbours do?

Nephew's dad also seems to like cutting grass. We have a shared patch on the front - When I cut it he is guaranteed to re-cut it with a couple of days.
Does he cut it better than you? Is it his way of keeping active? Does he enjoy being out in the sun?

You're missing a vital piece of information - is the aunt fit and/or younger than her sibling ? They also come around and walk the dog, cut the grass and do lots of other things (like visiting their son!) so they are there every day. They literally live a few hundred metres away and the parents are there most days seeing their son so it's not like he has fallen out with them. Why would he not live with them?!Lets not forget the thread title - this is odd behaviour by anyone's book!

I have a neighbour with terrible OCD. When he comes home from work he sits in his car for 5 minutes on the drive, checking all of the dash controls multiple times. When he finally gets out, he checks around the car 3 times. Goes to his front door. Wipes his shoes on the mat. Goes back to his car, checks around it again. Unlocks and locks the car door. Back to the front door. Wipes shoes. Unlocks front door. Glances back at car. Sometimes goes for another walk around it. Back to front door. Wipes shoes. Goes inside. Locks door. Unlocks door and checks door handle outside. Closes door. Locks door. Unlocks door. Locks door. Unlocks door. Ad infinitum. Every day it takes him 10 minutes to get home, and that's after he's parked on his drive way!
If I arrive home while he's mid-routine, sometimes he'll shout hello and continue, sometimes he'll scurry inside and wait a few minutes before going back out to finish his procedure.
He's a very nice chap. It must be a pain to live with such a condition.

I thought ours were relatively sane until the wife relayed a story to me earlier on in the week. We live in a semi, fortunately the neighbours we're attached to are fine. The old boy on the other side though...
We get occasional insights into his life but this chap is very much a recluse, he lost his wife years ago, is retired although probably not that old, in his 70's maybe. Kind of feel sorry for him a bit as he's probably quite lonely / got some issues though he does have family nearby who visit from time to time.
Anyway the wife tells me that she arrived back from collecting my eldest from school and he's lurking in his drive so as to catch my wife's attention, obviously knows what time she'll be arriving. Said he wanted a quiet word out of earshot of the kids to which my wife replied to not worry about them as they were unlikely to be paying any attention anyway and they had gone indoors at this stage to play with their toys. So he'd found a used nappy in a nappy bag down the end of his garden which had been shredded up a bit and was basically trying to accuse either us or the kids of throwing it over the fence though my wife said he was trying to play it down the whole time. My wife then points out that both of our kids have been out of nappies for nearly a year and had he considered the possibility that a fox (or some other animal) had got it out of someone's bin and then deposited it down there. We do have quite a few urban foxes round where we live. Oh I hadn't thought of that he goes and then decides that this was actually a distinct possibility given the thing was a bit shredded up etc. The proceeds to tell the wife how he'd put some paving slabs against the fence to block some gaps and a sheet of plastic down so he could easily see if anything else had been thrown over.
Bit annoyed that the first conclusion he jumped to on finding this object in his garden was that is was us or the kids that had done it without considering the obvious. To be honest we've been exemplary neighbours and really a bit of a god send to him, before we bought the house it had been rented to a family with five kids + dogs where the wife was going through some kind of mental health breakdown and there was next to no fencing between him and us, something we rectified quite early on with a proper 6ft fence. Annoyingly he dug out some stumps/roots of some big conifers that he did have along the fence line leaving a big void on his side so now the post aren't really fully in the ground and hence the gaps appearing under the gravel boards. If he'd have left it all alone it would be fine. If I'd have been there with the wife I'd have been tempted to ask what he was planning to do to rectify that. It's not as if he even uses his garden, the only time I ever see him in it is to mow the lawn.
