Coping with the heat?

today I've been steaming off wallpaper. Yes, using a steamer, for hours on end. I have rather nicely timed some plasters to plaster a room on tuesday, so I have no option but to get the job done. Oh joy, looking forward to more of the same tomorrow.
btw, is this like the summer of '76?
Not yet, that lasted all summer not a couple of days.btw, is this like the summer of '76?

Been there, done that two summers ago. It is a bloody hot job. Worth it when it's done though. btw, is this like the summer of '76?
Iv been painting and decorating all day, sweat running off me constantly, though to be honest I quite like the heat and would happily have it everyday, though sadly my long haired german shepherd doesn't agree, he's double coated and doesn't like the heat to much, can't walk him until late at night when it's cooler which is a pain as I normally walk them as soon as I get in from work.
My missus is 16weeks pregnant so the heat is killing her aswell as doing as little as a 1hr shopping trip will do her in for the day. Sleeping isn't fun, although we've a decent tower fan to cool the room.
Our husky is really feeling the heat, but at the same time moaning about no walkies. A bit dodgy round here at night on the streets so I'd rather avoid them.

I bought a Honeywell air conditioner unit from ScrewFix £280, it is fantastic but too noisy for the bedroom, which is were I planned to keep it.
So now there is a trade off, sleep in a cool/cold room and put up with the noise, or sleep in a hot room and put up with the heat…. I choose cold room, my better half says it’s too loud….can’t win.
It is fine in the living rooms as there are usually TV,s , Radio's, people etc so the noise is less noticeable.
I think it was a good buy, but impulsive - as I'm sure it will be a loft ornament for 10 months of the year.
If you can't sleep with the unit on, turn it on and shut door a few hours before bedtime then switch off when you go to bed. The room will be nice and cool at bedtime and you will be asleep by the time the temperature rises. So now there is a trade off, sleep in a cool/cold room and put up with the noise, or sleep in a hot room and put up with the heat…. I hope your good weather stays put for a while, I'm leaving winter in NZ for London next week, be nice to top up my fading tan for a couple of weeks.
If I pack the same clothes as when I was over in May I should be ok, at the time I was bloody freezing !
You'll be fine.If I pack the same clothes as when I was over in May I should be ok, at the time I was bloody freezing !
The hole in the ozone layer over NZ will ensure you'll fry.

Give me insufferably hot over cold 24/7 365.
Sod that! If your are cold there is always stuff you can do...there is a limit to the number of clothes you can take off, however!Spent Saturday in a three piece tails suit at a wedding on Saturday. Safe to say the shirt was ruined!
