I met my partner on Match 3 years ago.
I thought she was way out of my league but sent a hello message anyway.
We get married in two weeks.
The same with Sarah, 4 years ago. We married last August. I nearly missed out on her too, she (London) winked me (Notts) and I messaged 'you're just my type, but really, you're too far away'.I thought she was way out of my league but sent a hello message anyway.
We get married in two weeks.
Luckily that didn't put her off and she carried on messaging!

why do women get away with sending a wink but if a guy did it they'd be like what a fking loser. Mrs 2CV instigated the convo similarly...
Exactly. I've noticed some women write that they will not reply to guys who just write "Hi" or something similar and yet all the messages I've received from women have been just that or sometimes "How are you?"Jagmanv12 said:

Davhill, why not just use the free sites?
Plenty of fish is a superior site in just about every way, at least from my experience. There are many who will disagree and state that you get what you pay for. In the case of online dating, i've always found this isn't true.
depends whether you're after fat slags to finger or half decent women to wife.Plenty of fish is a superior site in just about every way, at least from my experience. Exactly. I've noticed some women write that they will not reply to guys who just write "Hi" or something similar and yet all the messages I've received from women have been just that or sometimes "How are you?"I've always thought it's simply a numbers game. Only a percentage of women answer the initial message, but once they do I've never had a problem getting dates. The fake profiles on POF are easily spotted and ignored. When I was using it a year or so ago there seemed to be plenty of genuine women. I met several before meeting the current g/f.
I did create a profile on Match, but didn't pay to register - browsing showed up all the same faces anyway, so I stuck with the free POF.

Interestingly, it appears the "unicorn hunters" are prevalent in real life as well as on dating apps:

Cue said same women as they hit their 40s, alone in their flat with their cats and a bottle of wine, asking themselves where all the good men have gone

Really?A lot of the women who start dating lots of men, were probably the type who did the same prior to their last relationship.
Some women like the company of the men and are lost without it, others are fine and will wait till someone meets their requirement,

Because most men in online dating seem to be mildly dyslexic when they read the phrase "it's OK to wink at a woman online"Well that all went a bit weird.
I am back on tinder, having been on it briefly about a year a go.
3 differences - I had a friend do the pictures and set it up with me, I now live in a major city and I've opened it up to men as well as women.
Completely different experience this time. More matches, lots more chat, people wanting to actually meet up - much better all round really. I think I am in a better head space for it which helps of course.
