This seems far more prevalent among the older ages. Most younger users (say under 30) are pretty open about their photos, and would rather show themselves looking terrible, but doing something to show their personality - such as the end of a run, or travelling, or playing sport etc - than doctor their photos and angles so they look amazing all the time. olly22n said:

I'll happily declare my weight, like most blokes I imagine but for some reason weight's just too sensitive a matter, presumably as the majority of pof ladies fall into the overweight (if not obese) category, hence my interpretation of the meaningless categories above.

I'm going to disagree on that - some women seem to have no clue about their shape. True, there are many fatties describing themselves as average. But there are also a fair number of (how I'd describe as) slim or athletic looking women that also choose 'average' as their body type. All you can do is take as much of a guess as you can from the photo's. It's nearly always the case that if she has no full length body photo's it's because she's hiding tubby, but then there are also a handful of women with body image issues (think they're fat when they're not) that don't put any full length photo's on their profiles.Thin (acceptable)

king huge)Some random woman on POF started messaging me on Saturday evening. She has no public photo's at all (POF says she has some private ones, to message and ask for them). Describes herself in her profile as average body type and says she's training to run a marathon. Also apparently got a degree and works in 'education', so you'd think she could string a sentence together. But all her messages were one or two words, and pretty incoherent at that! I asked a few questions, tried to drum up some conversation, gave her easy opportunity to say something of substance. But nothing, never even got as far me asking her to reveal her photos (could have been a hairy arsed bloke for all I know).
At the same time as she started messaging me, I was heading out to my local (by myself) for a couple of quiet drinks. Stood at the bar minding my own business (probably about 20 other people there - the regular crowd), and in walks a group of women, mostly 20 something and mostly quite attractive. They ended up at the bar next to me, and were a bit tipsy and enjoying themselves (fairly loudly). I quickly got dragged into the conversation, turns out they all work together - all doctors and nurses. They were all being rather forward, the two who were single made their intentions pretty clear. Seemed to be gagging for it - making suggestions of threesomes and deep throat (more in a banter sort of way, I think). Somehow, I managed to stay cool summon enough of my dry humour to cut them down and play along disinterestedly. I ended up getting talked into having a faux wedding ceremony and kissing one of them, with the whole pub as an audience (they mostly view me as the perpetually single, and probably gay bloke, I expect). We built a bit of rapport, but ended up parting ways without exchanging numbers.
I would have left it at that, but 30 seconds of google-fu yesterday revealed their social media accounts. Took a few of my my female friends to convince me that it wouldn't be too creepy to message the girl, which I did. Got one reasonable response out of her (was expecting a 'how the f
k have you found me?' reply), but then she went quiet. Later, I noticed she is also on POF - I'd seen her profile previously, but didn't make the connection in person, even though her photo's are pretty honest. She does seem quite genuine and we've got a fair bit in common, but I get the impression it was just a drunken game she and her mates were playing and she wasn't expecting any further contact. Still, gave me a minor confidence boost, albeit only temporary.Well my weekend was a mixed bag. Been looking forward to a date all week and then she went quiet on Friday. Got a message Sunday saying she was really sorry, things had become difficult and I wouldn't understand, it wasn't personal and I wasn't the only one who she didn't speak to as she didn't check any of her messages. fk knows what's gone on.

Also self confessed mental health issues and raised as a Jehova's Witness so likely full crackers and that means I'll probably get involved
I keep thinking about the other lass though. I do hope whatever has gone on isn't too bad and she's OK, even if I am pissed off at her.
Had a few matches over the weekend and chatted a bit but then gone flat. Someone I really wanted to match with has matched me but hasn't replied to my opening message, but it's a bit weird because I follow her on insta and tried my luck there and got nowhere so wasn't actually expecting to match with her on Tinder... Weird! She's a super hot personal trainer as well. FFS.
