Actually no, its ingrained in the human nature to want what we can't have, its why countries invade other countries and people, regardless of how much they have, always want more.

What's interesting in my situation is I dated someone, 13 years my junior, for a while, but she wanted something more serious than i did, so i ended it... she then spent 3 years trying to win me back. She won, we got back together, and are now married. I wasn't mean, i wasn't negging, and she certainly doesn't regret it (well only when i roll out the Dad jokes).

Now it may have worked perfectly if i hadn't gone and had an interesting experience with an alcoholic in the meantime, but i'm quite sure her having to work for me made her appreciate her getting me. I'm sure this is the same with Olly, online dating women have men literally throwing themselves at them, regardless of anything, barraging with dick pics etc. A guy that actually isn't fawning all over them represents a challenge, something they need to work for, they appreciate it a lot more. But i'm guessing you are more of the former which may be why you can't understand it?
You're definitely punching above your weight.

Went out Sunday and met a lass during the day. Not as pretty as I'd usually go for but she's interesting and we have a few things in common. Plus her figure is awesome and her arse looked amazing in the tight leggings she wore! She's got tattoos and piercings which I'm into and blue hairlaugh Also self confessed mental health issues and raised as a Jehova's Witness so likely full crackers and that means I'll probably get involved laugh
Second dibs here if it doesn't work out please. hehe

Let us know how you get on. She sounds fantastic. Find out if she's into rubber and corsets. wink

I might already know her.

Not recently. Dated a Parisienne for a couple of years when I was a student if that counts

Years ago, I got chatting to a girl that lived in Cannes. We started dating - every couple of weekends we'd meet, usually her coming to England.
I can't remember the timing - maybe a year? - but she eventually moved from Cannes to move in with me.

I guess it didn't work, given that we eventually split up - but that was after the long distance problem was resolved. And in fact, she still lives locally in the UK.

Define 'Long'

Seeing someone a 52mile drive away.... its not ideal IMHO, and exit required....... despite the astounding activities.
Couple of hours drive. I had a longer one when I was younger but I got bored of her.

I’ve been chatting a lot to someone I met through work and we’ve planned to meet up as soon as our diaries give us a day or two together. I’m sure that she’s worthy of some effort, just not sure how sustainable the distance would be, however we have both said we’re not in a hurry to settle down so maybe I should stop worrying about what ifs and just enjoy the ride.

IMHO owning dogs is exponentially more of a burden than having kids. I regret getting dogs at least once a day but apart from a "WTF have we done" moment near the start I've not regretted having children.

Long distance relationships are very difficult.

Firstly the guy usually does most of the running, that manifests itself in him going to her much more than her to him.

Meeting half ways an option but if you want to consummate it’s a hotel usually.

Additionally, each date is a bit of a palaver, you can’t do something impromptu.

That means a date can be pretty much a whole day which is fine if you want to be with them all day, you also find your home suffers. Just general stuff like washing, chilling, jobs around the house as the time you’d do these is spent travelling or on the date.

So it can be done but it’s hard. Unless the person is at least an 8/9 I wouldn’t bother.

I’m in that predicament now - check the “being told I don’t love you thread”

Short answer is no. Unless you are both committed 100% and there is a clear plan to move together soonish, things will eventually fizzle out one side or another

500 miles and 3-4hrs door to door journey in my case, which you have to fit around existing commitments, day to day life etc

Suppose it requires both parties to believe 100% that they are with 'the one' as opposed to just dating someone they fancy a lot.
