What's going on. Last thing I buy was so called new, was used and faulty. Another thing I win faulty, but resolved.
Sell a bike, get email saying they coming to collect then nothing. Sell a tablet, get email asking for number to talk to me about it (after I bought it) to ask if unmarked (says in ad) and if I put a sim in it can I get on the internet. Answer both questions he hangs up. Email him invoice nothing. Call him and says payment to follow tonight or tomorrow. Let's see.
Someone coming over to inspect a helmet now, supposedly local..... I'm I'm not bad in 30 minutes...

Try not enjoy your helmet inspection too much. He might offer you a few quid more..
Have you every thought of buying st in shops, you know, face to face? You don't seem to be having a great deal of luck recently with online purchases, eBay, the car forum etc
Not sure about selling stuff though. Maybe doing a car boot sale could help? You know, the old fashioned fav face to face transaction again, where goods are inspected, money changes hands and nobody ever knows how to communicate with each other ever again. And there is no 90 day / 6 month (or whatever it is this week) period in which the buyer can stitch up the seller by essentially "hiring" the stuff for the period and returning it ruined with ebay's blessing for a full refund.
I am with you all the way on this. I have only ever used classifieds to sell cars, and only one specialist forum to unload some lifejackets, the tender and VHF/ GPS stuff when I sold my boat. That was a long time ago, and scammers were fewer in those days, so I t was very smooth.
Personally, I couldn't be arsed to pay ebay's fees in order to gain a load of hassle or get tucked up. Most of my stuff now ends up at Dr Barnados charity shop (they tell you how much they earn out of it, which is a nice touch) or at the recycling centre. No amount of money would make me use eBay given the stories I hear, I'd rather give / throw stuff away, and mostly do.

From all I have heard -read about ebay this is also my opinion Edited by SeeFive on Thursday 21st August 01:40
There does seem to be a lot of ebay mongs around at the moment, had 4 bad experiences in about a fortnight, 2 not wanting to sell an item because it didn't sell for enough, 1 not as described and 1 that wasn't even sent because the seller was useless.
But thats from around 10-15 years of generally good experiences and a few thousand transactions.

I can't be arsed selling on there anymore, when we scrapped my wifes car i pulled the lights etc off and wighed them and the packaging up etc for postage. Then logged in and found fees had gone up again, and the final value fee now included the postage! Decided I couldnt be bothere with the hassle for such minimal profit, chucked it back in the car and scrapped the lot.
It seems a lot of people are the same, there's less and less individuals selling, its just full of businesses selling 1000's of identical items.
