Well I thought so...

I hate to say this but a child with that expression, a middle aged bloke with a beard and that hat - it doesn't look great. In fact it looks as suspect as...as....well as a bearded man outside a junior school

I think the hat suits you, go for it. After all everyone else wearing anything remotely unique will have asked themselves the same question, so maybe one day someone will see you and be inspired by your hat-wearing confidence.

Fortunately I am at an age that I don't give a rats bum about fashion, if I wore fashion I would look a bit of a dog dressed as a pup. Your young enough to just wear what feels fine for you, wear the outfit with confidence, the No1 rule.

To be honest i've been a baldy for quite a few years now so various types of hat have featured heavily, some being more ridiculous and open to ridicule than others hehe. I guess a brown leather fedora wouldn't be the most outrageous thing i've ever tried to wear, don't know about £80 for one though... (although it's the one I like the most, typical!!)

And what to wear with one?? Most of the images are suits/gangster/lawyer style folk and I don't wear suits confused

I too am a baldy bloke, and love my hats. Although I have a few beanies, and a couple of flat caps, I can't quite pull off a Fedora or Trilby or whatever they are called. And so stick to the beanies and flat caps.

What other hats do you own? Are you normally in a hat? If so the transition between hats might be easier and probably make you less self conscious than if you rock up to the office in a shrunken Stetson...

That's kinda my point. From "something worn by everyone" to "a bit weird" for no apparent reason. But what better to wear if it's raining?
Funny old world.

Mainly beanies and a snood (mostly for fishing duties but do wear to work sometimes in winter). I do own a grey check flat cap but very rarely wear it, my missus really likes me wearing it but it just feels too 'perched' up top if you know what i mean?

The Trilbe in the pic from M&S I think looks OK, but sits funny - kind of squashing the tops of my ears. Same happens with normal peaked caps, if they are above my ears then I feel like a plank, but if they are squashing my ears I feel like Spock!

Beanies envelop the entire top of head and ears so are a safe bet. I should point out the fedora would be for wearing socially only, not to be seen at work, EVER biggrin

I wear hats all the time once the weather has cooled down a little smile

Surely the actual answer to the original question is - it depends how tight it is?

Arr Uncle Alexei. Yes it was a look that worked for him.

It does seem to suit 'the larger gent' that favors the 'I'm a loony' look:

Another big Uncle in a Fedora
