Christmas cards
Discussion
Normally, I send out about 15-20.
This year, I care less about Christmas than I normally do because my dad died this year.
So my thinking is Christmas card tennis. If I receive a card, I'll return one when I next pass a postbox (which may be a week later). This means about 50% of my usual recipients will receive a card after Christmas and perhaps in the new year. I don't give a st. So, you receive a card late. Boohoo. It won't kill you.

I'm always under the impression it a wimmin thing. Beyond getting a card for a parent/other-half/child then it's pretty rare that men send cards.
I've never had a birthday card from a mate unless they had a girlfriend and make them get one... I'd rather have a pint anyway.
I've never posted a Christmas card either.

I stopped sending Xmas cards about 20 years ago. Just CNBA.
You are my new hero.I only send to old friends and 2-3 for neighbours.
It's a stupid idea really. The ones I used to get when I was married with a 12 month update were comical. If I didn't already know that your son got into his third choice uni to study history of art in June, I probably don't give a st either way and nor do you really give a st if I give a st.

Similar for me, goes for all cards, birthdays as well. People don't seem to get the message and I still received 3-4 a year Ill probbaly receive one for the previous occupants who moved out 17 years ago. Seems some peoples only contact with people is sending a christmas card with a note in it. Its not too bad though I get so see how little jane is doing at school, whether jimmy passed his driving test and how uncle john is still on the bottle dispite his illnesses.
Funnily enough, this discussion came up in our house the other night. Shall we just say that I am not a fan and would rather put an end to the nonsense. I'll always buy my wife one as she loves them, but she struggles to see that I couldn't give care a hoot, but did say that little messages on a Post It Note meant a lot.
She's speaking to me again now, which is nice
I like the concept we adopted at a previous work establishment (98% blokes I hasten to add)
Instead of all of our wives/girlfriends writing cards for their husbands/boyfriends to give to each other (yes, men being men wouldn't bother and the world would still turn) we chipped in a couple of quid (that would've been otherwise spent on cheap generic cards) and made a donation to a different charity each year. Something you may consider for your workplace?
