I'm staggered this thread hasn't appeared in the cringe thread!

Talk about embarrassing, everyone desperate to believe they knew what she was really like, all based on what they read in the Daily Mail no doubt! biggrin

Bit like the mourning sickness that followed, everyone feeling that they 'knew her' somehow.

Bizarre.

Oh, I forgot this is PH. Details matter.

How dare you belittle our princess!
FFS, it was a Daimler, NOT a Princess...

Only on pistonheads could the discussion go straight to cars, then onto the technical aspects of a particular model.

I remember the day of the funeral my car was running on vapours so I pulled into a Tesco station and it was shut. The staff were inside and a note pinned to the door "as a mark of respect to Diana this station will be closed for 2 hours" mad

I moved my car to the out of hours pumps and tried to use that but they were powered off. Annoyed I went over to the cashier window and asked WTF was going on and she said "we've shut everything of for the funeral"

WTF!!!! mad

Since when has buying petrol been disrespectful???!! Was she the patron saint of fking Tesco or something???!!! What made it so much worse was the staff were actually in the station.

That would have made me furious too. OT, I had this once in Newcastle with a taxi firm over a football match. Needed a cab while some "important" local game was going on and was told no because they were all watching the match. Life had stopped until the final whistle. The following Monday we engaged the services of another firm to fulfill out 5-6k a year taxi contract.

That day was a great day for a hoon...deserted roads everywhere.

Maybe when Russell Brand croaks....

Oh, no, everyone will be out celebrating..smile

Will we get a day of mourning for Fergie or Mark Phillips?

I remember the day of her funeral so clearly.

The nation was united in grief and mourning.

So I took the opportunity to go to Sainsburys while it was nice and quiet wink.

I was a paper boy at the local family run paper shop

The papers were running late as they wanted to print the story

I remember the owner making us wait and wait, we left around 3 hours late. Suppose from his point of view it was big news and he didn't want to let his customers down.

Once the papers were an hour or so late I remember his phone going with people ringing up to complain, for some cusotmers I remember him having to break the news. Still remember it despite only being 11

I was only 10 at the time so it didn't really affect me, can't remember my parents making much of a fuss beyond watching it on the news.

What I've wondered though it post split with Charles was there any sort of disagreement over who Will and Harry went with? Did Diana want to take them with her?

judging by most of the relationship topics on here the woman usually gets the lions share so how did this play out I've never really seen any coverage of it

Looks like the Cossie doesn't exist. It's numbers not coming up on an app I have.
The Daimler is SORN and looks to have been for a while.

Stashed away from ghoulish eyes? Or in a museum?

I take it the Merc was shredded and melted?
