used to be a saddo that chatted to the school bus driver. We had a few regular double decker buses that were used - some Leyland DAF's, some Volvos, one double-rear axle Leyland DAF, and 3 Leyland-DAFs with Volvo engines in and mysteriously dysfunctional limiters...
I saw 70 on the clock doing down a B road hill in one of the last 3. Apparently it was originally meant to be doing routes including some motorways between stops...
There was one bus that was specced for North Wales and couldn't get above 50 but it'd go up hills all day at 50 instead of slowly crawling up at about 20 with the driver trying to kick-down all he could.
We used to have a Leyland Tiger at a previous employer. It had started life as a coach, and was rebodied as a service bus. So, a coach-spec chassis and drivetrain, and a lightweight alloy bus body. And the speed limiter was broken. I saw 70 on the clock doing down a B road hill in one of the last 3. Apparently it was originally meant to be doing routes including some motorways between stops...

Never did work out the top speed, the numbers on the speedo stopped at 80mph.

...Shell came in one day to review the model and one of their high-ups spoke to us. I said I had worked for Shell. He asked in what capacity. I said petrol pump attendant. He turned around and walked away.
What a pleasant weekend, decent footie (apart from my team, who I hope will give a decent account of themselves next week at that there Wembley). Hosted an improbably entertaining Eurovision evening on Saturday, with some guests returning on Sunday, worked a while, slept a while and finished today off with a late roast beef dinner.
Found this today, unlikely but.... Spear Of Destiny doing traditional English folk music, not sure

Also booked two holidays on Saturday (I've had but three days off so far this year so )
A week in Costa Adeje at the end of July, back for two weeks and then a week in Playa Blanca

I only realised it was Champers play off today ,assuming yellow team won.
(Goes off to check)
Nah, the play off was of secondary interest to the cricket today (my claret and blue lot have an FA Cup final next Saturday for the first time since 2000 and I have an outsider's hope above expectation given the opposition )(Goes off to check)
FB will take a look, breakfasts are always at the hotel (Princesa Yaiza) but lunch and dinner are anywhere we fancy; I love that place
