So its pissing down with rain as usuall in not often sunny Aberdeen, she says "Remember not to put any pot plants on the decking this year, the water will rot the planks".

Eh?
I think he's getting mixed up with crêpe-souled shoes.
You know, the ones that go with drain-pipe trousers and bootlace Thais.

It's starting to get a little bit surreal in this thread... wink

We bought a trike for our daughter and it arrived yesterday afternoon ready for assembly.

Wife excitedly opens the box to get the bits out so I can build it, pulls all the bits out, looks at the 3 wheels and says "There's a wheel missing!"

Took her a few seconds to realise what she had said as I chuckle to myself

not my OH but the girl on reception at our work who left recently for a PA role was asked in a job interview recently some general knowledge questions....her two answers were...well you judge for yourself.....

Q. Who is considered the father of Gravity?
A. John Lennon

Q. What kitchen item is commonly known as Sodium Chloride?
A. Kettle

I kid you not. She made up for it with her personality which was lovely. she apparently did well on the maths and english elements....

Speaking of receptionists.

I was on a rant the other day at the number of mistakes made my staff. I said very loudly.

'How am I supposed to soar with eagles when I am surrounded by sparows;.

Madam receptionist chirps in.

'And the odd tit'

I haven't got a clue what the answer to this is. I know sodium chloride is commonly known as salt, but I can't think what would commonly be known as sodium chloride, in the kitchen.

If the question was "in a chemistry lab, what is commonly known as Sodium Chloride?" then the answer would of course be salt.

So I'm stumped, unless this is a classic from the PHer and you've completely fked up the question.

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

My OH cannot make a decision, even about the simplest of things!

eg
(And bear in mind, I don't ask when she's doing anything)

"Would you like something to drink or eat?" When I'm about to get some for myself.

"Not really!"

Half an hour later.

"Were you making anything to eat or drink?"

"Yes thanks, it was lovely!"

"So you didn't bother to make me any then!"

Maybe general knowledge quizzes aren’t for you then.

The question is wrong though. It should be, "what is the common name for the chemical Sodium Chloride, that you would in most kitchens"?

Not really, I’d consider salt an item. The question is pretty obvious and makes perfect sense.

Salt is the common name, not sodium chloride.

As in "pass the sodium chloride" dear.

Yep. It's entirely possible for questions to be wrong and that was one of them.

She's right in a way.

Mind you ranting to the receptionist does sound a bit Brittas.
I thought the receptionist sounded spot on, in an amusing way
