Mine was on at me this morning as apparently the coffee grounds from my cafetierre will definitely block the drains.
2 scoops of coffee, then diluted with clean water and swilled down will block a 2 inch pipe in no time apparently.
Realistic concern or just one of those things she talks about with no actual evidence, my thinking is its diluted to the point its not a problem but she is now insisting it is disposed like its nuclear waste.
Sam as anything greasy, cant but grease down the drain, which is fine but when its been emulsified with soap I would say it can quite happily go down the drain.
Now at the point where its just easier to have instant !
Drain workers won't like you! They say it returns to its solid grease state when the soap breaks down and it cools. Which is probably contributing to the 'fatbergs' in the city's drains.2 scoops of coffee, then diluted with clean water and swilled down will block a 2 inch pipe in no time apparently.

Get an aeropress, the grounds get compressed in the bottom and you just pop them out in to the bin, much easier than trying to get the ground from a cafetiere in to the bin.
That said I used to bung the grounds from a cafetiere down the sink for years and never had a problem with blockages.

Bit off topic but used coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, just add straight onto garden soil. That said I used to bung the grounds from a cafetiere down the sink for years and never had a problem with blockages.

Not my missus, but another female relative...
Message on our family whatsapp group about decorating the house she just moved in to...
'I'm painting very wonky walls... as in the wall joins from a pale colour to a darker... I now fully appreciate how Picasso must have felt painting the 16th Chapel. I think i could give him a run for his money. I also scarily understand now why Van Gogh chopped off his ear. Xx'

To be fair, she's got a point. You don't hear much about the first fifteen chapels so they must've been pretty crap.
He probably did the first one in “builders beige” all over, just to get his eye in. The second one was probably in his “blue period”, then for the third added some matchstick men and I suppose he just got a bit more adventurous with the colours each time.BT Summers said:

More seriously - used coffee grounds (from ANY source) should go in the green bin, the composter, or used as fertiliser (all are valid). No need to landfill or dump down the drain.

I think the fatbergs are down to takeaways tipping huge amounts of hot grease down the drain, they dont form from a small amount of emulsified fat thats been well diluted into a volume of water, only talking frying pan. Its never actually blocked, the pipe did drop off under the kitchen as the builders had done a stty job so it was allowing loads of dirty water into the floor void. Guess who had to fix it...
I'm sure she didn't take that long.Tyre Tread said:
