My OH is great at asking me inane questions that I could not possibly know the answer to or even care about. I used to get annoyed and snap back with "how the feck would I know"!
I have recently changed tack and now respond with "I don't know, ask Alexa"

It gives me great pleasure when Alexa responds with "I don't know the answer to that"

Our Lass has just been complaining that the solar powered garden lights nearest the kitchen window never seem to work, while the rest are alright.

My 6 year old daughter 'mammy, is 70 an even number?'
My Wife sensing a moment to teach her 'well...is 7 an even number?'
My daughter 'no'
My Wife 'well there you go then, 70 is an odd number'
I wish i was joking

The North Pole is up in the sky apparently.
Possibly a misunderstanding between the north pole and the pole star - though this could indeed be a belief that the north pole floats in the sky (I take nothing for granted these days)......

On Mumsnet there was a thread running about daft things you used to believe. Some woman posted who used to think Simon and Garth were brothers with the surname of Funkel, until she was about 35. hehe
I thought he was one man called Simonart Garfunkel.
You can call him Al.

That reminds me, a couple of years ago we watched the Starsky and Hutch remake film, we got to the end and I asked her what she thought, she said it was rubbish because they didn’t have the dog in it. After a bit of minor interrogation it turns out she was expecting to see Flash from the Dukes of Hazzard.

When's that on - I need to program the TV to turn off just before it starts!

Saturday nights, it's a different classic game show each week.

"You were right - that shelf [screwed into thin plasterboard only] won't hold those [massively heavy] boxes you said it wouldn't"

while holding said shelf with one hand and asking for a screwdriver to take it down before it now falls down rolleyes

So that's eight holes to now fill and paint over, and another 15 minutes with a drill and a level and a screwdriver to put it somewhere else that will look stupid because it looked best in the first location.

rolleyes

Is it any wonder that so many films have 'the fairer sex' completely ignoring advice / instructions and causing all manner of problems?

I was previously thinking it was just sexist but experience seems to suggest otherwise...

Generally speaking, men see the practical and women consider the aesthetic. It's how we are programmed to some degree. One compliments the other when one doesn't dominate the other.

I'm quite fond of Bullseye; it was not condescending or patronising, it actually required some skill to play, the contestants were just ordinary people, and I think it effectively translated the feel of the local working mens club or pub to the TV. The prizes which seem lame now reflect a simpler time and people with far less material wealth.

This new one is everything that's poor about modern TV; the host made it all about himself with his pitiful jokes that almost all referred to him, the contestants revelled in their own stupidity and ignorance at the questions asked and were the typical attention seeking bellends who want to go on TV, and the prizes were presented in a sneering way.

No wonder nobody who combines an IQ higher than 85 and an age lower than 35 bothers with broadcast TV.

Years ago I turned round just too late to tell her not to put the (big, heavy, in a bucket of soil) Christmas tree on the glass top coffee table. As I took a breath to say No! she put it down and it went straight through, so then we had a nice little wooden fence round it (and a load of broken glass on the carpet). Women don't seem to have any concept of basic strength of materials!

Mind you, their modern and rather slick parts could be confused rather more easily by the uninitiated for components of a missile guidance system than the gimcrack 60s doings of J Lucas Esq...

Last night watching Wandavision. If you've seen it you will know the first 2 episodes are filmed like 50's/60's sitcoms in black & white, but starring the 2 main characters.
Wife: "Are any of the actors in this still alive?"
