A genuinely good cause or lining their own pockets?

This appeared on a few websites coming up to Christmas with a final push to raise £1M after raising very little for long enough.
Since shortly before Christmas all the news feeds and press have gone dead.
Anyone any idea if they actually raised the £1M, or has something else gone on?

I had a three minute scoot around that website and I genuinely don't have a clue what it's all about.
That Richard E Grant is a fud though.
The story was the woman who runs the site wanted to raise £1M to build and fund the running costs of a house for 8 orphaned children in Africa. I didn't quite follow why she specifically picked just 8 children. That Richard E Grant is a fud though.
In order to do this she gave up her TV job and created a limited company to raise this £1M. You'll see she's on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin and all the usual places.
She asked people to donate only £1 each(people did pay more) as that's money they wouldn't miss. After doing it for a lengthy period of time the non-profit making company made very little money towards the actual cause. They suddenly tried much harder on the run up to Christmas to hit their target that involved a tour of many of the biggest UK cities.
Reading their social media pages they posted a lot and managed to get a fair amount of press with their tour. After the 20th of December all their trail just seems to die.
I'm curious if the house has gone ahead, or this non-profit making company has used all the funds raised to cover its costs?
If it hasn't gone ahead, where is all the money? Was it a genuine effort, or just make a few quid for themselves?

Maybe she bought the Elise off Garlick. If it hasn't gone ahead, where is all the money? Was it a genuine effort, or just make a few quid for themselves?
