How long can the UK go without having a war with the French? Either in terms of previous record or future prognosis.

When I sweep to power as President in June, we'll be invading France by the weekend.

"Future prognosis" as opposed to 'prognosis'?

Oops, was going to say something like 'in the future' then changed the working but left 'future' in there.

Why do modern new build airliners have ashtrays in the toilets when (afaik) no airline has allowed smoking onboard for ~30years?

Whilst it may be illegal to smoke on the plane if someone does it's better for it to go in an ashtray rather than the bin full of hand towels.

What's going to happen in 5 years time that seems anywhere near as odd as Trump leading the USA, Jeremy Corbyn leading Labour and Matt le Blanc fronting Top Gear would have seemed in 2012?

There's a great phrase that I think sums it up - "the new normal". Mark Carney started using it after the banking crash, things never go back the way they were - we just get used to them.

Genuinely, my predictions:

Scotland (and NI) will leave the UK and re-join the EU, I can't see anything to stop that now unless the SNP form a coalition government with Labour and impose the undoing of A50 but Labour won't win in June, nor will he they be able to join forces with the SNP for enough seats.

Corbin won't stand down in June, he's already purged his shadow cabinet of dissidents and recruited enough cool-aid drinkers into the party to ensure he's safe. ‘New Labour’ Members will form a new Party, by 2022 the old core Labour party will be a fringe party and merge with the SWP.

The UK will end up with an relationship with the EU which will be materially almost the same as before. We'll draw up some very strict rules about immigration from non-EU countries and rules on immigrants from new EU members, just as we had before, but it'll make the Little Britain voters forget about UKIP. We’ll drop the ‘UK’ and being called Britain again, Passports might still say ‘Great’ no one either home or aboard will ever use the ‘Great’ part.

So – 2022 – England and Wales = Britain, Cons v ‘new’ Labour. London based economy driven by favourable banking and tax rules to entice international investment, a smaller country, less chippy about being a “mini super power”.

Trump won't reach the next Election in office, The Democrats will find a younger, more palatable candidate and will the presidency will a landslide in 2020 against Pence.

It could if it wanted to, but I think most English people consider the UK to belong to England.

Why do many UK hotels use a combination of the usual UK sockets, but also the old type D ones for lamps and stuff? It's puzzled me for ages, but only just been reminded of it again as I'm currently in a hotel! Socket looks like this:

Prevents guests using high power (high cost) appliances ... I think the ones you've shown are 3amp rather than 13 amp ?
