Has there ever been a serious attempt to codify a method of arguing?
I guess there's peer review, but I'm thinking of two people sitting down and hashing out their differences until there is a logical and mutually agreed conclusion that doesn't allow for the same old things to be dragged up even if previously argued to death (as happens on NP&E, for instance).

Marital counselling. Why do some people say Ovlov instead of Volvo?
I've seen it a few times on PH, and I sometimes see a local V70 that has "OVLOV" stuck on in silver Halfords-style letters.
Because those seriously starved of amusement think it is funny to alter the names of things - like calling ParcelForce ParcelFarce and Halfords Halfrauds etc. I've seen it a few times on PH, and I sometimes see a local V70 that has "OVLOV" stuck on in silver Halfords-style letters.

But they kinda make sense - farce/fraud. What is Ovlov is meant to mean? I've never seen anyone speak about their iadnuyh or ehcsrop... a said:

Funny the first time amusing the second, after that they're just copying somebody else and appearing pathetic and stupid.
By far my favourite is shirley. Now you can't tell if the writer is trying to be funny or if they're really stupid. It's always a good sign if they post it in a "serious" thread.I saw it just the other day in a thread about Tom Petty's death. Surely no-one would be so crass as to put a joke in a thread about someone's death so one must conclude the writer really thinks that's how surely is spelled.

do matches expire?
i have some matches that are probably about 5-6 years old AND some matches from NAMCO in westminster that are easily over 10years old. tried both on their respective lighting strips and none of them lighted up!!

Someone called "talksthetorque" taking the piss out of lame word substitution?
Talksthetorque taking the piss out of people who have an issue with the repetition of word substitution. By Johnspex’s ‘rules’ a joke would only ever be able to be told once. Just in case someone had heard it before.
Surely (just for you John) that wouldn’t work.
