Putting aside the convenience - cough cough - of a record temperature as the political temperature on climate change is reaching a frenzy ahead of new attempts to redistribute global wealth (mainly to our elite, not the 3rd world!) and strictly control the populous with a one world government, .......
The Heathrow 'record' is not supported by nearby stations that just touched 35C, all pretty much in agreement, including another at Heathrow.
Normally this would be considered an anomalous reading and struck from the record books or at least marked as dubious, but it already appears on the Met's record page. It remains a mystery exactly when and where this record reading was taken.

Are you saying that piece of meat alone was £90? That's a hell of a lot of money in my opinion.
Sure it was lovely though but £90?
£87 to be precise. An entire Angus fillet, carved off the carcass in front of me. Expensive? Yes, I suppose so, and it's not a normal habit of mine but it was a thank-you to a friend for his endless hospitality. But to put that cost into perspective, that fillet would probably have fed 10-12 normal people (i.e. one nice sizeable fillet each). In a good restaurant you'd be looking at about £25-30 minimum per fillet. So, a minimum of £250-300 at least. And we were able to cook it precisely how we wished (on a hot skillet hanging over a fire pit) and ensured we could have it exactly how we wanted (very rare for me, medium rare for him), And most importantly, we could have as much as we wanted i.e. all of it.Sure it was lovely though but £90?
So actually I think it was quite reasonable. Endless amounts of fillet, some lovely potato salad, fresh corn on the cob and a lovely dash of homemade chimichurri.
And I have to say, as a piece of meat it was phenomenal. Lightly marinaded beforehand for a few hours and gently seasoned, the knife just fell through it. We did it justice in the way we cooked and enjoyed it, and that's the important thing. If an animal is going to die to satisfy your hunger, all the better to treat its sacrifice in a proper way.

Amazing lightning display in Dorset for the past 30 minutes. Long may it continue.
We went outside and watched it coming. Constant flashes for 20 minutes or so before there was a huge one right overhead and it started chucking it down. The only disappointment was a shortage of fork lightning.Chicken Chaser said:
Puggit could I get a forecast for the next week? Looking to get away in the camper for 9-10 days from Monday and want to see where the weather is best before committing. Scotland is my preferred choice but it appeared to be quite cool up there.
The warmth over Europe, and a little bit of high pressure, will continue to influence the South East corner. The picture is very changeable at the moment, with no system taking charge, but Atlantic lows impacting the North. So in a nutshell, SE is better, NW is worse. Rain possible anywhere, but more of it in the north. Not hot, but not cold.
British weather...
No a single drop of rain or clap of thunder) here.
It does look like the cool/normal will persist for the outlook (but then I thought it would keep the heat we just had away several pages back and was wrong).
With heat very nearby on the continent, it only takes a very subtle shift in the relative positions of pressure zones to make a tremendous difference to our temperatures.
