Where does anyone go during the darker/ wetter months for a smoke? I don't want to sit indoors at home (the mrs would shoot me!) and it's a bit chilly/ wet to sit in the garden.
London is fortunate to have a few places like JK Fox sampling lounge and a few hotels like the Mayfair have covered heated smoking lounges. I guess outside of London you are a bit stuck I am in Vienna for Christmas and I have noticed that many of the newsagents / tobacco shops have small walk in humidors about the size of a double wardrobe. Impressed! Prices are reasonable and you can smoke in many bars too!
I have a Partagas lusitanias and a quay d’orsey 54
Happy Christmas

What is anyone smoking tomorrow? We are off seeing family so I don't think I will get the chance.
Got a nice crisp box of R&J Bullies delivered last week, so probably have one in the afternoon. Of the aged stuff I’ll most probably have one of the two Partagas Presidentes I have been “saving”.
I usually smoke socially after visiting places like JJ Fox. After Christmas I may treat myself to a humidor at home. I am after some advice.
I work away a lot and sometimes I can be away for months on end. What kind of humidor would I need to buy to ensure that it doesn’t become dry and yet not require regular adding of water or the lid opening? Or am I best off not bothering?
longest I am ever away is about 12 weeks. I did ask Goaty Bill but he just looked at me blankly.... babbled on about some Russian author and then mumbled something incoherent in between puffs on his Partagas

Mine was a cheap one from Amazon (£40ish I think it was). It takes time (about 2 weeks) seasoning (Boveda seasoning pack is your friend). I then bought one of these https://www.xikar.com/products/humidification/ciga... and a digital hygrometer and around 8 weeks I fill it up with some special humidor solution and it keeps the RH around 60-70%. 12 weeks you should be fine especially if you keep it in a cool cupboard. Have a look at JJ Fox as they have a selection of the Xikar devices. If you over-size slightly for the humidor it'll last for 3-4 months between refills and, whilst not ideal, PG self buffers to ~71% maximum humidity anyway. At the higher end of some people's ideal but not a catastrophe.

I just use a tupperdore and change the Boveda pack every six months or so. As its completely sealed and plastic it loses virtually no moisture at all. I reckon it would stay in the right humidity range for over a year on one set of packs if need be.
Actually, this is much better advice. This makes a whole lot more sense than buying a humidor when one hasn't been run before. The Boveda packs can also be "recharged" by being left in a tupperware that has a container of distilled water in it, too.

Nothing tomorrow, but off on holiday so packed a little selection in the travel humidor. Quite a few new cigars for me in there - the Hoyo Epicure, Quai Dorsay, Upman Magnum, Punch, and the Monte Edmundo Cava 8 and Linea 1935 - I picked them up in Palma in Summer. I'm looking forward to them!craigjm said:
I have just googled tuppadore and those packs. Not very elegant but sounds like the best solution!
Nope, it's not something you'd put on display but it's a good overflow solution if you have a lot of sticks, or if you just want to keep cigars at home without the hassle of looking after a humidor. Humidors aren't that hard to set up and maintain but a tupperdore is a total piece of piss and you can't really get it wrong.
Did anyone get any cigars to add to their collection today? I got a pair of Drew Estate Larutans from some relatives, they are one of my favourite smokes. It's almost like they knew exactly what to get me - I actually found out they visited the lounge I frequent and asked the staff there what I smoke when I'm there. Good folks!

Lucky you, glad you got something you really enjoy, that's what this time of year is all about.Humidors aren't that hard to set up and maintain but a tupperdore is a total piece of piss and you can't really get it wrong.

Nah, nothing from Santa for me although Mrs LFC did say we should go to Cuba for a holiday where I can visit cigar factories and watch naked virgins rolling cigars on their thighs which I can then buy and smoke
I had a Punch yesterday evening while out with friends for a Christmas drink (or rather, 3). Tomorrow (as I will be still on holidays) may just be ideal for a Siglio VI.
(belated) Merry Christmas to you all.

Mrs Knee bought me a 'Havana Club' cigar ash tray. She's hoping I'll stop using her saucers as an ash tray now.
