Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on jet lighters?
I picked up one of these from the counter of JJ Fox a few years ago:
https://www.jjfox.co.uk/cigar-accessories/cigar-li...

It has been faultless and when I eventually lose it, I won't be upset as it was only £15. (Although, having tempted fate thus, I'm sure not to lose it and I'll lose a more expensive lighter if I ever get around to buying one)

Not very pretty but looks like it'll do the job.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I have one of these https://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/dupont-lighter-maxijet-...

It works very well outside in pretty much any weather.

I have one of the Cyclones from Fox's. They're quite good and as you say - cheap and cheerful. You will only shed a tear or two if you lose it.

The Colibri Firebird Qu4d Burner is a good buy too.
This is the one I keep handy.

Nice.

How you you keep them in good condition on the ship?

Do you have a humidor in your cabin?

I am just doing a little 3-week fill-in on this particular ship, so I have my 'tuppadore' with me. I also picked up in Barcelona two boxes od La Gloria Cubana D no 5 which are a lovely Spanish market only short Robusto, great value at 75 euros for a 10 box.smile

How is everyone and what have you all been smoking this summer?

I travel a huge amount these days and don’t even bother with a humidor, like you I just have a tuppaware box with a boveda pack.

I am rapidly becoming a fan of the Cohiba Secretos Maduro 5 that I have been picking up in duty free for just over £100 for 10

Thread bump!

With the nice weather we’ve had recently I broke out the joya red I had sat around.

Really enjoyed it, nice mild flavour and lasted around an hour. Easy to smoke and very enjoyable.

I'm over in Switzerland this week on business. Plenty of cheap cigars here, I saw what appeared to the Davidoff HQ too, I'm not a big fan of their cigars, however.

Nice selection Paul. I see you're still into the Partagas and why not?!

Since moving to a house with a garden earlier this summer, I've found myself going through my collection like nobody's business. Unfortunately super expensive to replace so I thought I'd try to find some cheaper - but also enjoyable - cigars.

Bought a box of 25 Flor de Oliva robusto (Nicaraguan) for £159 as a tester, and I've been very impressed with them; well made, great draw, nice and punchy. Thought I'd found the grail for the every day (4+ biggrin) smoke! Must have been old stock as they're now up to 250ish a box.

Still got plenty of 'premium' cigars but I'd like to look after them and appreciate them when I can savour them.

Any recommendations for everyday cigars in the robusto or petit Corona that come in sub £10 each at UK prices?

Fan of Bolivar, Partagas, Cohiba and Montecristo if that's any help biggrin

I'm probably on a hiding to nothing and got lucky with the Flor de Oliva.

Looking forward to being back in Duty Free at Christmas!

You've been doing more shopping than a woman Paul! (will probably get censured for that remark, oh well!).

Haha, yep, well I always figure it makes sense to do a decent shop every time I am in Gibraltar as the prices are the best anywhere. With the $/£ exchange rate at the moment they come in pretty much the same as my longterm internet supplier, but without the possibility of the dreaded customs bill. That’s happened to me with my last two internet orders, and it is very frustrating to pay £80 for 10 cigars and £137 in tax…
