Tell us something really trivial about your life (Vol 26)
Discussion
Spent this morning waiting for a well respected musician to tell him is engine is knackered and do a deal on a new one. He didn't turn up, so I called his mobile.
"Sorry Dave, bit tied-up at the mo. Playing the Hollywood Bowl this evening".
Bloody harpists!
All long hair and Russian birds.

Just watched Calvary. I watched it because I like Brendan Gleeson and I really liked The Guard.
That's like saying I watched Mary Poppins because I liked The Dick Van Dyke Show. One isn't necessarily a recommendation for the other. Both good in their own ways but sadly not sufficiently similar for me to have circled today's date in red on the calendar as one to remember fondly.

I'm looking after my parents' house while they're away for the weekend.
I knew that my brother (he is 20) was playing cricket until 7pm (so I prepared him a meal) but when he got back, he told me that he had had a team dinner. Then he worked in a local pub from 8:30-12:30 and I prepared another. But he came home with a takeaway.
This must be what parenthood feels like. He has gone to bed and I've agreed to drive him to his girlfriend's for 9:30am so that they can go to a concert.

Yes, I can see there is likely to be steady work with two or three busy spells every year, it's just the grim bits in grim weather miles from anywhere late at night having just dropped a car off I'm not looking forward to. That and the ste money. It's not the most obvious way into car sales which was another idea I was pondering.
Just remembered last night's dream. I was listening to a newly released record by Paul McCartney and realised I could hear George Harrison's guitar style and John Lennon's nasal singing in the background. This being impossible it meant they were high quality sound-alikes being used in a deliberate and cynical attempt by McCartney to seduce older listeners to buy his record by subtly reminding them of Beatles' records. The man's an absolute shower.

If you know a car/brand well, maybe a service advisor it the way to go. One of our girls had owned more French cars than you could shake a stick at. She could pin-point any squeak or wobble an owner would moan about. Within 10 mins with a tech and you would have a happy customer.
That's an idea. My problem is liking cars to the detriment of assessing them properly. At the induction for this driving job we had to check over a car in the company car park. "Ooh, that's nice," I said to myself and stood aghast as it was demolished as dirty, scratched, scuffed, chipped and with a soiled interior. I thought it was fine. My belief that I could sell cars comes from an idea that I could pass on my enthusiasm to potential buyers.Anyway, there's fence unearthing to do. Towards the bottom of the garden it's between a foot and eighteen inches inside the hedge. It's more archaeology than gardening. I may be some time.

He had to deliver Mercs/BMs/Audi/Lambo/Astons. They let him go. It was when he hit 70 years old because of the insurance.
Just chatting to Dad over Sunday lunch."Oh yes, we enjoyed our job. I was MD of the Company and Chris was the other Director". No wonder they buggered off to have nice lunches in cracking cars!!!
