£30 'selfie drone' from China.
I can remember getting my first Nokia brick in the 90's. If someone had told me then that in about 20 years time I'd be able to fly a mini helicopter using my phone with a live video feed for the price of a few beers and a kebab I wouldn't have believed them.
1997 me would have been more staggered at £30 for a few beers and a kebab!I can remember getting my first Nokia brick in the 90's. Stand by for the 20% tax plus Royal Mail handling fee
I allowed for that. IIRC it was £16 in total. These things are so much better than s traditional wallet. I carry 4 cards plus driving licence, some notes along with the odd train ticket. It holds all my old leather wallet held but is a quarter of the thickness and smaller in every other dimesion.

Also on AliExpress, for a similar price, (with a spare battery, carry case, and dodgy photoshop of a very attractive lady carrying it on a "date".

You might get a better price on the mobile app, and even more off with coupons if you can find them.

Has the quality of these cheaper drones got better these days ?
My only experience of them is watching them flip over after about 0.5 seconds from take off.
No amount of fiddling with the 'settings' on it seemed to make the slightest difference.
I've always assumed you need to spend a couple of hundred quid to get something half decent.
Or maybe I just can't fly the things.

The aliexpress one seems to get mixed reviews no?
Only had a cursory look as quite tempted by one of these to play around with for overhead video shots for car runs. However, I am crap with technology and have never tried to fly one....
After losing a £30 BangGood Special one in a field (probably) last year, I've decided to wait a little longer. The whole field is still developing strongly. It's hugely innovative right now, so the tech that will be available in the next couple of years will be very impressive.Only had a cursory look as quite tempted by one of these to play around with for overhead video shots for car runs. And the wife is still a bit annoyed about me losing that one, so getting another would be "tricky."

I'm under no illusion that is anything but a toy. The quality of the video isn't great but it's okay. I think it's 720p. My only experience of them is watching them flip over after about 0.5 seconds from take off.

It's easier to fly than the last toy one I had because it has an altitude hold feature which makes it a bit more simple. I've only gotten it indoors so far because it's either been raining or windy. I got it to practise fpv flying because I got a kit for my homemade quadcopter and found it quite tricky.

I decided I wanted a new home cinema set-up a few weeks ago, so pre-ordered this A/V receiver:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/av-receivers/st...
As this has Atmos enabled, I thought I'd better upgrade my speakers too, so ordered these:
http://www.nl.onkyo.com/en/products/sks-ht588-1253...
Then I figured out that they wouldn't fit in the current position in our living room, so I needed to rearrange the seating plan and buy three new pieces of furniture to accommodate (luckily I found some nice bits second hand which saved a fortune!).
Whilst waiting for my new A/V receiver to be released, I came to the conclusion that there's no point getting a 4K audio system with my current 1080p TV, so I ordered the 55" version of this:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/XE9...
and this to complement it:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/blu-ray-disc-pl...
It has been an expensive month considering I just wanted a new A/V receiver.

Sooooo tempted by one of these. It's an amazing quality bit of kit too, the controller feels so good, and very intuitive to use in your hands too.
I've been using my iPhone 7 for the screen, but then a friend says he uses an iPad mini, and I had one spare, so switching g to that now for the bigger screen real estate!
