I wear Kevlar gloves and they last 4-6 weeks, less if they get dirty. They wear, scag (sp) and get dirty like any other glove, maybe a bit slower.

I'm tempted by the 100Y hoodie.

Made from 100% Kevlar and designed to last a hundred years (hence the name). Probably a gimmick and it's expensive at £230 but if it's genuinely top quality I wouldn't mind paying.

No reviews at all though, and Kevlar degrades in UV so I'm sceptical.

What a load of shoite. Do you get a replacement if it wears out I wonder? If only you could guarantee to stay the same size over a lifetime so it fits

I had a wholesale email from TOMTOP (Chinese jobbie) come through the other day for a 720p IP PTZ internal camera with the 'swipe to move' mobile app.

they wanted a whole $22 (with free postage) for it - having just bought a 16 channel NVR (and 8 1080 cams) i thought it would be worth a punt.

i am fully expecting a pile of cheap bendy plastic which works for 2 days - if i get anything more i will be pleasantly surprised smile

I've grown to love my Das Keyboard 4 Pro so much that I simply have to have one for work too, so I've just ordered one (at £140 - ouch).

Out of deference for my colleagues, it's not the full on clickerty-clack Cherry MX Blue keys like my current keyboard; it's the much quieter Cherry MX Brown keys plus a set of rubber o-ring bumpers to make it quieter yet. Hopefully it should be quiet enough for office use.

One of my colleagues has a Corsair silent keyboard with the new Cherry MX Silent keys and it's acceptably quiet, so hopefully mine will be similarly quiet.

Fingers crossed on that, or this count be a rather expensive blunder. smile

Frivolous purchase? I think it probably qualifies, especially since I also have an older Das Keyboard S with Cherry MX Blue keys on my spare PC which I seldom use (although I think it's too noisy to take to work).

TL;DR - I bought a second £140 keyboard.

Stick one in the freezer, it'd hammer into the enemy lawn perfectly.

No. A 30 day money back guarantee, which is a joke granted.

There is something nice about a piece of clothing that is well made and lasts years.

I've got a Mercedes McLaren t shirt from circa 1998, it's full of holes now but can't bring myself to throw it away.

I like the look of the hoodies that go all the way up the front too...

I don't do a lot of flying, or have any reason, I just fancy one. Is £450 on two hoodies too much?
Being recently single and having no kids it's amazing what you can justify to yourself as reasonable.

If you want good quality clothes that last for years and years - get hemp.

Grandfather was a motor mechanic. A pair of cotton denim jeans would be wrecked in a couple of weeks. He had a pair of hemp jeans last for 30!

Just bought a FLIR one - thermal imaging module for my iPhone.

It's awesome and might actually come in useful - so not sure if it counts as frivolous biggrin

Forgot I backed this on kickstarter after the lily cam project failed.

Turned up today, yep, it's another Drone!

What's its USP over existing drones?

(Genuine question)

That's a good question, it's not in the same league as my Mavic Pro, so it's not fair to compare it to that range of drones.

This is much more an FPV racing type of drone,,aimed firmly at beginners and learning how to fly and progress to FPV racing.

I have bought it as a birthday present for my son Tom who will soon be 11, and already a very competent drone pilot.

What appealed to me with the bolt concept, was the low entry point, as an early backer I paid less than $150 for the package, which included everything, the drone the controller, the FPV screen and the FPV headset.

The reason it's such good value is the modular screen and controller and headset all share the screen, depending on which mode you are going to use, line of sight, flying wihnthr screen on the controller or FPV flying with the headset and the controller in stand alone mode.
