Just out of interest, are these outfits/helmets ornamental or do you wear them? If the latter, for what purpose? (please make it clean...)

Not antagonistic, genuinely intrigued.
Some of them are worn. The Star Wars ones mainly as both husband and I are part of a charity garrison so we will wear them for events from time to time. Other than that most are display, although husband wants to put a rocketeer costume together for comic con.

Fair enough. One man's meat is another's poison and all that. Shame you are married as you and Clockwork Cupcake would make for an idyllic match wink

Fair play though, I quite like that recent purchase. Wondered how much of it was artwork and how much was actually worn.

Nitecore Tini, £28, 380 Lumens. Pictured next to a 2 Euro coin because that's all the change i could find.

At the last count a couple of years ago I was on torch No.400ish. Now fast approaching 450ish

I just had to go and watch a review of this, looks really great. Might have to get one of these because the 3 settings would be handy. The torch, not the 2 Euro coin!

I started this thread in the scale models section, but I have just realised that it qualifies beautifully as a frivolous purchase!

I bought a copy of the 1985 Tamiya Radio Contol guide, which I had back in the day when I was 13. Bought entirely frivolously as a nostalgia trip. The price for a magazine which cost a few quid in 1985? A snip at 65 pounds biggrinbiggrin

Fabulous! I used to love the Tamiya catalogues when we were lads, despite not being able to afford the actual models themselves!

Shame we through them all out not realising they would become so valuable in the future!

I live my life so minimal these days I sell things not used in 1 month. And yet I have ordered one of these just, well, because. I cannot remember when I last needed a torch and I live in the centre of a city. But that is cool.

Blimey! I should be on commission! biggrin

Just dug out a couple of my first ever LED torches - a 9v Lucido PALight which is permanently on and a 3xAA Lucido Lightwave. The difference between the Nightcore Tini and the Lucidos are night and day.

No.Just a big tub of Vaseline eek and Costco membership for the 48/72 packs of AA Kirkland Signature or Duracells depending on if there is a voucher. I learned the hard way early on that if the torches are stored you HAVE to take the batteries out otherwise a decent torch can be ruined by leakage.

I use surprisingly few batteries over the course of a year. For long or new trips I put fresh batteries in, and reuse them in other torches for shorter known trips where running out of juice isn't a problem with 2 or 3 spares as well as helmet lights.

The Vaseline is for bum sex or lubing the O-ring seals. biggrin

I've always loved the Art Deco / Dieselpunk vibe of The Rocketeer - seriously underrated film.
