More frivolous purchases, stuff you don't need..

I bought one of these in the week http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/makita-dtw1002z-18... with battery, charger and bag for a good price. It's a bit of an extravagance, but will make my ife easier. Now I "need" all sorts of power tools all of a sudden

£10 Off Philips Hue starter kits at curry’s at the moment, only £50. Got one this morning, pissing the wife off already by turning the lights on and off from my phone.
Now get yourself an Echo and set the word to turn off the lights to "Something something dark side" Our living room is 'Lumos' for on. Endless fun.

If this is a whole new setup then please don't get any fish for a while. If the filter isn't cycled then the fishes will suffer quite a bit for a few weeks. This explains it simply - https://www.wikihow.com/Do-a-Fishless-Cycle

The shop will probably tell you to leave it for 24 hours then put some fish in but this is quite unfair on the fish.

I'm not putting any fish in yet. I'm going to put another plant in there and let it sort itself out for a couple of weeks.
Having the bubbles and the water plants is enough for now

I was about to say the same, it took us some time to get the levels right in the water before it was ready for fish, the pet shop here were very helpful with it though, they even tested our water with their kit for free after we took samples in jars for them. They started us with a few hardy fish to see how they went once they were happy with the water values and the filter had cycled properly and gradually added more over time.
We also had some healthy bacteria stuff they gave us to kick start it in the beginning, which apparently speeds things up.

Personally, I'd still add the bacteria and a pinch of fish flake to provide some nutrients for them, then add first fish after a week.
I stumbled upon Equity for Punks V though Facebook. I *might* have bought 4 of 'em.
I love it!
I'm enjoying cultivating the plant and the "tankscape" for now. It has a very soothing effect in the office which can be manic at times.
Thanks for all the tips. I suspect the fish shops let you buy fish straight away because they want to encourage you to buy stuff. Not because it's good for the fish.
