That's a shame. Mine have been superb so far and get used a lot, I did buy a suitable hard case for mine though cheaply off eBay.

The Zeros have come down a bit in price. I'm quite tempted by their new model- Impulse - but haven't buckled yet.
I’ll see how I get on with the Eels. Hopefully they will be as comfy as the Zeros.

I've got 10 babies!

All carefully planned to force the issue of getting a bigger (300l) tank.

Hehehe

The shrimp is also pregnant which makes me wonder what the hell is going on in there.
hehe

Thought you might do! Our pet shop did warn us it would likely happen, but said they are usually eaten by other fish, pretty sure none of ours were eaten however and have had many batches over the time we had our tank. Some nice variations of colours though.

What kind of shrimp do you have?

We have ghost shrimp and they have never produced any babies so far!

So, yesterday Jimmy Recard and I decided to drive from the North West to Felixstowe and frivolously purchase a car for track and drift day activities.

A 2.5 V6 Rwd...

... Vauxhall...

... Omega...

...estate....

....in Jewish Racing Gold! hehe

We decided that if we're going to be slow, we'll do it stylishly and in comfort, whilst making a lovely noise and standing out from the legions of sheddy BMWs!

First impressions are that we've bagged a fantastically looked after car that drives beautifully.... The only issue is going to be preventing serial Vauxhall enthusiast Jimmy from getting too attached to the car to track it! rofl

Much as i love cheap stty cars, a trackday is not the place for them. Hopefully any decent trackday operator will red flag you before even make the startline.

As long as it isn't dripping fluids or rusting to bits then he should be able to crack on, trackdays are about taking a car round a track and enjoying it. Also looks ideal kinda car in a weird way, being an Ogema estate means it can carry all it own spares and tools to and from a circuit with 4 adult occupants owing to it being utterly cavernous inside! Stick a set of decent tyres and brakes on with a quick set of coilovers or decent shocks and springs with a good geo and crack on, whats not to love? Added points for it being a manual V6 with RWD!

Start line..... done plenty of track days and never once lined up on the start line, always started from the pits, as a tracks is not a race but simply an open track for people to enjoy their cars on.

Went to a ralyish (on an old airfield, but using some tracks as well as tarmac) track day years ago with a mate in his Impreza. A couple of guys turned up in a sheddy Omega Estate that they usually used to tow their track car, and proceeded to get round quite a bit quicker than my mate in his Impreza biggrin

From your totally ignorant comments I'm going to assume you've never been to a track day?
Apart from the odd showoff in a new GTR/M3/R8 the vast majority of cars there are sub-£1000 sheds being enjoyed to the limit by owners who don't have to worry about what would happen if they ran out of talent and ended in the barriers. Whilst ancient MX5s are the most numerous, ropey 6-cylinder E36 and 46 BMWs abound, so why can't we join in and stand out with a not at all ropey 6 cylinder Vauxhall?

I bought an Omega for about £600 back in 2006, just before I was 21, also a 2.5 V6 manual. Was a great car for the 8 months I had it before it died! However I do prefer Senators and Carltons,

He actually, sort of, has a point. Twenty years ago I used to do regular track days mainly at Brands Hatch. Now I rarely do track days. It use to be people bringing their pride and joy to a track whether they had a lot of money or not. There were actually very few crashes. I remember one chap who totalled his griff who spent the afternoon in the bar crying into his beer that he'd damaged his car.

More recently my TVR sits between some similar enthusiasts and some people who have bought a car just to emulate Clarkson round the corners. They are obviously having fun and I don't begrudge them that, but I have gone home early from a few track days because the standard of driving from these snotters has been abysmal to the point of the owner not seeming to care whether they bin it or not. I tend to avoid them on the track and they tend to ruin the experience.

I think there is a difference between people who bring cheap cars but obviously have put a lot of work in and its what they can afford, and people who pick up a borderline shed to play bumper cars with.

(I'm not saying you're one of those people, just saying the chap you're arguing with may have a point).

I have clearly been going to the wrong trackdays.

Well I’ve clearly never been to the kind of trackdays you attend and hope i never do.

‘Sheds’
‘Ropey’
‘To the limit’

And to paraphrase, ‘unconcerned about crashing’.

These are not people I want to share track space with thanks. Put me into the elitist category of those who like to finish track sessions with all limbs accounted for and no damage caused by some herbert with an ebay stter

Much more like the kind of car I have seen on my similar number of trackdays!
