Thanks to this from the Lepin Lego thread, I now have to explain to my wife I bought the kids some expensive Paw Patrol characters and got a free orange GT3. (99c add on for the Paw Patrol characters, a few other bits available too on the 99c add on.)

I've had a bad experience with GearBest before, but I'll give it another go. (Previous Yodel delivery theft, ages to get a refund.)

I've used the site linked many times with no issues but haven't bought this item, just wanted to share as it's potentially the GT3 for £37 inc postage.

I decided I wanted a music player and ended up with one of these:

Holy crap is it good... OH has not suspected it and I have introduced it as an existing toy.

To save anyone else having to Google search the image

Why you couldn't just post up the link or details yourself I have no idea.

Edit: lack off coffee excuse passes muster.

Its a Digital Audio Player with a DAC (Cirrus Logic CS4398), so can be used as a standalone DAC too.

Think of it as moving from a TV showing 360p and then going to a 4k TV but instead of a picture its in the realms of music.

Not often I get to post in this thread, but last week whilst watching the new series of 'The Curse of Oak Island' I decided I needed a metal detector, so the next day splurged $780 on this kit! Arrives on Wednesday :-)

And then you can find even more crap to keep ...

(I bought a metal detector, used it twice and gave it away several years later)

That's why I ended up getting a good one that has adjustable settings for iron, so can filter out all the junk. Won't find any Roman coins here, but California has GOLD! Well, maybe a gold ring on the beach if I'm lucky...

Nice. Did you try any others?

I bought a chord mojo to pair with my iphone (with onkyo hd app) and hifiman magnaplanars but this is a total faff if i am anywhere other than in the house. Was thinking of the pioneer xdp300r and some decent in ear monitors. I wasn’t very impressed with the mk1 ak70 when i tried it.

Hard to get these things out here in uae without paying through the nose but i’m likely coming home for xmas and may splash out.

I read around the subject for quite a long time and as you say I didnt want to be tied to an iPhone and a DAC when I can have a dedicated system. A&K came up with good reviews constantly and so I wanted to dip my toe in before jumping in for something more substantial in A&K range like the AK240.

I honestly didnt like the look of the 100/120/Jr and 300 is sold out everywhere.

So that really left the AK70 to try, once I listened to it with a 24bit track, even my troglodyte hearing could tell the difference between that and the normal mp3s I used to listen to whilst flying on business, so I was sold.

Trying to work out what the jump to the AK240 will be like so I need to find a place that stocks it, at the moment the A&K whilst expensive is great... also def go for the MkII even though the original is still on sale.

If you didn't need any of it, you haven't saved anything at all.

I bought a pair of these, the frivolity stemming from the fact that I’d got a new iPhone and so ‘needed’ headphones with a lightning connector (as the lightning to 3.5mm adaptor would simply never do...).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-Rayz-Lightning-Po...

So far I’ve been impressed. A bit plasticky, but work really well. The app is also useful and the noise cancellation, hear through and other features work well. I wouldn’t pay £100 for them, but at £50 I think they are great value.

This is exactly what I find. Portable audio kit is definitely my area of frivolous spend. It have got a drawer full of headphones, earphones, amps to strap to my phone and standalone players.

These days., I almost always go for my B&W PX on the move - wireless connection to my phone, the music starts automatically when I put them on and stops when I take them off and all controlled on the headphone themselves of my Apple watch.

I've definitely got better sounding kit, but it isn't that much better that I can give up the convenience.

I keep all of the other stuff for home use, but in reality I can't remember the last time I pulled on a set of headphones there!
