My cat isn’t keen on the kind of volumes i like to listen at, and unfortunately my living room hifi isn’t as good as hd-audio. The hifiman cans are also the comfiest i have ever owned so you can walk around the house listening for ages without it being fatiguing.

I have some b&w p5’s and a pair of nuraphones as well, think we share the same disease when it comes to these things.

Problem is always auditioning things and then finding them lacking. Having had a mispent youth i want music to sound as good as it does on acid. Hifi reviews usually have a different rating system though smile

I think i will wait for the next pioneer which surely has to be due now. Current one only runs android 5.

I should use headphones more often at home, but I just never get around to it. My living room hifi is pretty good, but I could still listen louder and probably in better quality still on headphones. It just feels 'right' using speakers at home for some reason.

We definitely do! I have got the Nuraphones as well. I loved them at first for certain types of music, but have not gone back to the B&W PX as a daily driver more often. I do use a wired IEM if I cam going to have a day listening to EDM because the bass response is phenomenal on those, so worth the extra hassle.

It's lucky I'm not (quite as) frivolous with most other things!

Be cheaper just to keep taking the acid?

BF meant that there was £250 off the Note 9, and my S6 is a bit old... So new 512GB Note 9 arrives tomorrow smile

I've done a lot of acid and have a lot of hi-fi... You'll never get close to the experience on acid smile but using both together, well, there have been times I've had to have a break as the experience is so intense it's actually overwhelming!

I see I'm in good company here. I've got Anker Soundsurge and kz zs5 for out and about, Sennheiser RS160s for movies (a pair each for me and the missus), B&W P7 wireless for ignoring reality TV and Beyer DT990 Premiums for my desktop system hehe and that's before all the speakers

I am quite tempted by the Q Acoustic M4 soundbar for the TV. It can be had for £200 and some say they're nearly proper hifi quality and my Sony soundbar is a bit lacking especially for music. Does anyone have one of these?

Nope. Point of thread is to buy stuff you don't need. Suggesting that money has been saved is simple error of logic.

I got £300 off a Samsung S9+ with Black Friday, and trading my S7 Edge. Mine arrived tomorrow!

Almost went for the Note 9 but it's a bit too big for my hand, and though the s pen is cool, not sure I'd actually use it much. Hope I made the right decision. Really only wanted a phone with 2x optical zoom & hoping for good low light performance.

First phone I've bought outright, and shopped about for SIM only contract. O2 want to charge 2x the monthly cost on an upgrade!

Note 9 - 161.9mm x 76.4mm x 8.8mm
S9 + - 158.1mm x 73.8mm x 8.5mm

Having owned a Note 9 and put it side by side with a S9+, I can assure you the difference virtually unnoticeable.

In the spirit of this thread, I suggest you put the S9+ in the drawer and purchase the Note 9 too.

I bought an original Ka-Bar knife, because apparently the govt. are looking to ban online knife sales soon.
No excuse at all, I probably have 10 knives the same size and better quality - but I needed it.
I do have good reason to have that kind of knife - but I already have load that probably work better for many jobs (they don't involve stabbing people, or self defense - off grid cabin needs a good knife),

But I have better, more versatile knives/

The Ka-bar is an icon, though, and I like iconic things. That's my excuse.
Entirely frivolous.

Bought a laptop in the blackfriday deals....

Why have a £300 netbook/tablet thing when you can have a £2200 mobile workstation powerhouse with a 6gb Nvidia quadro graphics card!

It will actually be used for some CAD work, but this is probably overkill....

My old laptop will be relegated to the garage where it's sole purpose will be "how to" videos and to run my milling machine software...

My e46 is feeling a bit dated on the interior. Once a top spec model, now it has fallen into obscurity. The TV is analogue, there is no BT and the screen itself looks like something from red dwarf.

I don't know if I can do our annual Christmas drive to the alps without Spotify, audible and radio 4 this year.

So I've taken advantage of the 20% reductions on the Xtrons site for a new head unit. At 250 quid it looks identical to the OEM one, until you turn it on. Then it becomes an android 8 powered digital radio capable of playing TV, Spotify, DAB/FM, CD and DVD.

How is this frivolous, you ask.

It's not.

But the new interior trim, steering wheel and gearknobmost certainly are laugh
