Don't want to upset you CC but its a weird time to buy a 1080Ti. The raytracing series has just been releaed by Nvidia and while the 1080ti is a reasonable chunk faster than the 980ti there aren't many programs that don't run well on the 980. But ray tracing is a next serious visual leap on. You WILL notice raytracing running in games. Just before April I'm buying one of those.

Have a look at some of the raytracing demos on utube to see what a giant step forward it will be for games

I don't disagree, but the RTX cards are just stupidly expensive right now, and the 1080Ti is showing no signs of falling in price at the moment. Plus I got a really good price on the 1080Ti.

The plan is to run the 1080Ti for a year (until it is written down as a business asset) and then review the situation. In the meantime, the GTX 980 still has resale value.

Plus, of course, the purchase qualifies for this thread. biggrin

At least it matches the equally frivolous and useless NYC cab I bought in the summer.
Is it eligible for Prime delivery?

I did the same nearer the start of the year. Sold off two 980ti cards and purchased two 1080ti's. Overkill.

Love it smile
The chap I got them from said for around £25 he can install a remote so you can go through the correct light change sequence at the touch of a button. They are currently just all on or off.

Well as the first post in this thread was of a giant ratchet and socket set my latest purchase was to fix a loose bolt on a car seat, I probably had the right kit somewhere but then I saw this and thought why not!

Not bad for £20
Where do you get your manicures done?

Good shout. Purchased and made use of the day after.

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser ... a machine purely for making hot chocolate (and the sachets for it are £1.20 a pop, sold in boxes of 10)

But crikey it’s immense - the salted caramel hot choc is sublime as is the 70% nicuraguan!
I was looking at one of them the other day, £100 for a fancy hot choc maker is rather a lot though... You can buy the jars of choc rather than the sachets and also just grate down their own choc bars smile

Still undecided
Just ordered one. Damn this thread. Handy Christmas present for the Mrs!

Close to buying one of these... but it really is a lot for a bag... and I have all sorts of others...

I have coveted Tumi bags for several years. Just can't bring myself to commit so much dosh to something so ubiquitous though.

This is your desperate attempt to claim that an extra few MHz of clock speed somehow beats the 24 threads mine has vs your 16, and the far greater amount of RAM mine has, yes? winktongue out
You're such a sore loser hehe

The jars are even more frivolous at £9 each due to the amount you need to use (6 heaped spoons per drink) ... the machine is £90 or £100 for the starter kit with 20 sachets, 2 mugs and a reusable fabric bag smile

Go for it, it’s ace (and super frivolous!)
You're a bad influence. Went into the factory store today, bought some salted caramel hot chocolate and then realised I needed the velvetiser so one of them in black is now on order. It had better be nice as this is going to be the worlds most expensive hot chocolate smile

Was thinking about doing some PC upgrades next year. That went out of the window on Thursday.

Ryzen 7 2700x and 16gb of DDR4 already here, New case, mobo, psu, SSD due today.

Just need to slip my 1080Ti in now and I'll be good for another couple of years.

iPhone XS 256GB, because I figured that my 6 will die sometime soon and it was a good deal.

£270 for the handset, £37 a month for 80GB data and unlimited minutes, so total cost over 2 years is about the same as the handset only.
