Alien on 4k Blu Ray. Unnecessary because they regular definition would do just fine, and in a way it's too detailed as you'll see the flaws in the effects. But it's one of the greatest films ever made, so it's worth it. It's crazy to think that when it was released VCRs were an expensive luxury, and now we can watch it in a manner that could never have been envisioned by the people making it, yet it still holds up.
We worked our way through the original Alien Quadrilogy when we were expecting. (My wife hadn't seen them.)

Each evening following the scans we watched one. The first two for our first kid, three and four for our second kid. Part of the reason for having a vasectomy was so I didn't have to watch any more of them.

Bought some more DJ gear the other week....

New Numark 'Scratch' Mixer
New Phase DJ system

I've got a couple of controllers i don't use that i should probably sell on (Numark NS7II & Pioneer DDJSX2 both in cases) as i want to fund a purchase for the Pioneer DDJ1000SRT.

After popping into Screwfix a few weeks ago to get an L bracket and returning with the L bracket and a Makita LXT brushless Drill/Impact Driver set with which to fit the said bracket, my old forbetterforworser mentioned a door was brushing against the new carpet.

Now I have a new Makita LXT planer to remove a millimetre or two off the bedroom door.

Frivolous or essential? And what's the potential of buggering up the job with only Youtube videos as instruction?

Had a BBQ Party last weekend for my sons birthday. Invited his friends and parents.

The wife sends me out to get a bottle of Pimms.

I come home with 3 bubble machines, a massive blow up swimming pool, two football goals and of course..........no pimms.

A reminder why she wont ever let me do the shopping. Ever.

I haven't bought, because I don't think I'd ever use it, but I love the idea of this...

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-power-of-a-...

If I could get work to use them, and have a docking station at home and at work, I suppose it would be useful. Not sure how powerful it really is, but if it can run a couple of normal sized displays through a docking station, and have the oomph to have Outlook, PowerPoint and a not-too-heavy Excel on the go, it would do 80% of what I normally do each day.
Word of warning, I and many others, got scammed on a similar device, read the comments -> https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-most-powerf...

Indiegogo do nothing to help, the only hope of getting your money back is through credit card however most don't seem to be able to (or want to) help due to the way these funding sites work. Just worth mentioning as there's potential to back and get nothing, not even your money back. Shockingly despite all the complaints about the above campaign, indiegogo didn't shut it down for months and people continued to back, even though all the comments said it was a scam!

The new one i wants about £1300.
The new gear i've already bought was about half that.
The other 2, no idea, don't really know the used cost.

My power tool rule: Any cordless tool, accessory or battery which is compatible with my existing kit is deemed an 'investment'

Trim a door?

Put the plane to one side, pop back out and get a tracksaw. AKA plunge saw and rail.

As it happens makita do an LTX version - https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Makita-Dsp600Z...

track is extra though.

That looks ace. A mate bought a similar one for his other half a while back great looking and practical, just not so safe travelling back from the pub on it while slaughtered.

Apologies, i hadn't put much thought to it, but looking at Ebay sold prices for a guide:

-NS7II £350-£600, i've had it from new, but a knob is missing, but it is flight cased. (Have box etc.) - works fine.
-DDJSX2 £400-£500. i've had it from new, has a Pioneer DJ bag (which has split on one of the corners, so needs stitching), but the controller is VGC,
only gets used once a month. (Have box etc.) - works fine.

I had them for DJ'ing out with, but one of the bars i play at got a full Nexus setup & the other bar i play at i only play at once a month.
I also have a set of Reloop RP8000's at home with the Numark Scratch mixer & Phase system, but i'm keeping hold of those, even though i don't use them.

Great idea! If it snows, I’m definitely going to make my son pull me back from the village pub :-)

However until the ‘winter snow thread’ delivers, it hangs on the wall in my cloakroom looking cool!
