Thought it would be - especially after your comments about it losing money. Both those brands really have created an odd perception in the general public.

I've come so close, a dozen times or more, to doing exactly the same as you. For me, it'd have been a Monaco with Gulf stripes...
I wish I had bought a Monaco in my 20s, albeit not one with Gulf strips. Still really like them 20 years later. In fact I might get one this year

Can we guess?

I'm going for either a Brietling or a TAG Heuer.

Which I came very close to doing the same thing a number of times in my early/mid 20s as career first started generating some decent dosh.

Got a Citizen Skyhawk AT instead for a fraction the cost, and still like it.
Good guess! I don't have any decent pics but it was a Tag Carrera Classic on the metal strap...random fact, it was worn by Mr DiCaprio in the movie 'inception'. I bought it on a whim, simply because I liked (and still do) the appearance/styling of the watch but ironically hardly wear it and prefer to wear my cheaper quartz models e.g: G shocks and Citizens. I've left the watch game now as a bit more conservative with ones impulse spending!

Yep from an 'investment' perspective in the context of watches not a sensible purchase however IL hold onto it as I quite like the quality of finish and it's wearing a couple of war wounds with scratches on the clasp and bracelet which makes it a bit more personal lol. I actually splurged on two watches , the Tag being the pricier and the other an Oris TT1 Day Date that came with a decent discount as the shop at the time was getting rid of all their high end and semi decent stuff to be replaced solely with all the gear the 'youth' appreciated at that time e.g: Armani, Guess etc No offence intended as I own two Guess watches from that era too wink

To be fair I quite like those but they are pricey relatively speaking..over £3k I think?. From the time I bought my TAG (+10 years back) watches have got significantly more pricier and not just due to inflation and what not. I think something happened with regards to the ETA movements or maybe I'm crossing wires here but my model (now discontinued I believe) increased in price (brand new) by around £500 within a few years and it seemed to be across the board for TAG. So if nothing else I didn't get fleeced by an additional 500 quid!

Macy’s in the US often have good deals on the Monaco line. I was offered a Gulf Monaco in Orlando last year for 40% off list then a further 10% for overseas visitor discount.

I found this yesterday, hidden in a pile of secondhand sheet metal at a friend's workshop!

It's a workshop loft drawing (a blueprint etched onto aluminium, for use on the shop floor where paper items would quickly be ruined), and is for part of the structure on a 60s English Electric aircraft. Judging by the details, it looks like a prototype component.

Sadly though, it's only a small offcut of what would have been a much larger sheet.
Still, there was no way I was leaving that place without it, so a deal was struck and it's soon to be on my garage wall!

He's home! Now to work on the lighting. I was doing rather well for a visit to a prop store, then got into the carpark and husband says the magic words "Did you want C3PO as well?"
Another trip north is looming next month then biggrin
He's currently in a corner in the lounge, he'll move more permanently into the Star Wars room when I get around to finishing it...

Hahah he does a bit.
The guy who's making my 3PO is hopefully going to do it so his hand can rest on R2's head so as a pair they will look great.

As an aside, finally got the panels to finish the Han in Carbonite build. Most excited!

I've had enough of digging holes around the place, so opted for a bit of mechanical help. I think the auger with 10" bit might have been quite frivolous.

Picked up a Synchronome at lunch-time - a local pub was having a clear out. I think it dates to 1930s/1940s and had a reputation for being very accurate (until quartz came along). Looking at prices on ebay, it might have been a slightly shrewd purchase.

Mind if I ask where said store is? I am beginning to expand on some rather basic collection stuff!

One of those USB led strips to stick to the back of the tv and light up the wall; multi-coloured and remote control, less than a fiver.

I bought a few of them, they certainly were frivolous because the wife had me take them all down because she thought they looked awful. No taste!

Great call. I assume you have a nice bit of ground ? I high might render it a little less frivolous.

Let's say I bought this for the kids, which is nice of me. This image shows it connected to Dad's desktop in my office that the kids are not allowed to touch, but that has no relevance to the first sentence. It's very good... the forced feedback is especially good, it even goes as a far as immediately lightweight as soon as you hit grass. Brake pedal is a little stiff but the throttle and clutch are great.

For the kids, obviously.

Change the brake spring for the GTeye one it’s a great deal better. I have the clutch and throttle springs too.

Wanted some better sound from the PC, therefore needed something small but with some decent quality. Ended up buying a pair of Dali Spektor 1's.

Then needed something to power them, and everyone likes tubes right? After some research, got myself a Nobsound tube amp from amazon for £60.

Sounds good for now, and more importantly looks good. I'll add some pictures later if I remember smile

A free and easy fix is just to open up the pedals and remove the pointless rubber block that makes the brake pedal unnecessarily stiff.
