My mum died at the age of 98 a few years back. During the eulogy I pointed out that she had lived half the time between the battle of Waterloo and the present day.

Liquorice, yep. With what would now probably be a non PC pic of a black boy on the wrapper.

4 for (an old) penny, or alternatively 4 fruit salads.

I remember blackjacks and fruit salads being a 1/4 pence each.... was there a 3rd flavour around briefly? I seem to remember there was... blackcurrant maybe? Memory is very hazy.
Yup, you're old.

a) my hi-fi is older than a lot of PHers. (1987 - still good).

b) it is tuned to Radio 2 (FM)

c) I'm not sure if I've posted this before.

d) I'm sure there was something else....oh never mind.

My Great Aunt was also born in the 1890's, she had a wonderful claim of having lived in three separate centuries. She left us at 107!

Yeah, I did a staff member's appraisal earlier. I told her she had a lot to learn still, but had done well since joining the team in August, etc... She asked me how long I'd been working in this business to have such a knowledge...'since 1988', I replied. 'I was born in 1987!', was her reply. FFS! frown

I was in the UK last weekend for my annual Christmas piss-up with my mates I go to Le Mans with.
Hangover from Friday night's drinking in Southampton continued until I got some Guinness inside me at the Horse & Groom in Windosr on Sat at 5p.m., and we continued until 4am Sunday....
Oh, then I had to drive about 600km home to Luxembourg on Sunday. I was fkED! frown
Still, all very good fun - at the time!

I am the only person in my office who remembers what it was like to write letters to clients instead of emails.

I'm old enough to remember what this is.

I just had to check the whole thread to make sure I hadn't posted it before.

Without skimming back through every page or checking 'my stuff' in my profile, I can't remember how many times I've posted in this thread.

I remember travelling on the underground as a kid when some of the stock was still painted red all over, had a stylish curved 'flare' to the exterior bodywork at floor level and lots of wooden internal fittings.

I'm almost certain I can recall snow on the ground on at least one Christmas Day (1970...?).

I remember the fuss over decimalisation.

I feel old.

Remember both of those. Those red trains may have been on the Northern Line as I remember being on them going to Moorfields eye hospital when I was a kid. Also remember staring at posters for 'A Clockwork Orange' on the tube platforms which fascinated me. hehe

I would think it may have been 71 as I remember visiting family in Plaistow around that time and it being covered in snow. Thankfully part of my family I haven't seen since the mid-70s.

I turned 52 last September btw.
