Young people on your road look at your house to check what colour wheelie bin to put out.

You remember reading the original road tests of vehicles now considered 'classics'.

When I worked for a company like that in the 80s, Securicor delivered the wages on a Friday, The driver, wearing a helmet a stab vest got out of the cab, banged on the door at the back which was opened from inside by another helmeted guy who handcuffed the case to his wrist and took it into the MD's secretary's office.

He unlocked the handcuff, unlocked the secure case and took the wage packets out.

Then he went back to the van leaving Shirley with a hundred grand in cash on her desk only protected by her stapler and any other office equipment she had nearby! Much easier to walk in there and steal it than stopping the security van, but remarkably no-one ever did!
When I was 16/17 c1978/9 I had a Saturday job at a town centre shop. When the day's cashing up had been done, £3-4k usually, I was sent to deposit it in the night safe of the bank. It was thought safe as no one would expect a teenager to be carrying that amount. A gullible lookingg teenager at that.
When I was in my late teens a friend worked for a bureau de change in a motorway service station (on the way to Dover).

They regularly needed to shift sterling back to the main office in London, to exchange for European currency needed for travellers to the continent.

The usual method was to get one of the cashier's to take a holdall containing 10-20k cash on a train up to London!
