No idea but the family got a pasting from the authorities for being so close to it.

"You wouldn't go up to a grizzly bear in the bush and hand him a ham sandwich, so you shouldn't be handing a thousand-pound wild mammal in the water slices of bread," Kiesman said.

What's incredible is that the piranha were watching what was happening above the surface, moved when they saw the throw - not when the fish hit the water, but the throw! - and calculated the trajectory/landing....

fk.
there not piranha, piranhas live in the amazon(they are freshwater fish), dont grow that big, they look like some sort of shark.

Wild carnivorous animal in "vicious" shocker!

Almost "Darwinism" in action though.

Ridiculous thing to say. Darwinism implies some poor judgment in the face of glaringly obvious danger, like perhaps kicking a tiger pup in the nads for a laugh while its mother was somewhere nearby. Unless you expect those folk to have a nostradamic gift of predicting unlikely scenarios, your post, as does Laurel Green's, smacks of groupthinky bottom drawer mob cowardice.

Sealions and seals and other doe-eyed furballs are very commonly noticed and often loved residents of harbours, frolicking about, eating scraps of food and probably even smoking dogends, without the coastguard getting all panicky about them like they might if a Great White was there.

It is totally unexpected and probably vanishingly uncommon for one to grab a person; in all likelihood it mistook her dress for a bit of food or something. It could easily have dragged her away for dinner if it chose, but probably shat its furry pants when it realised what it had picked off the jetty buffet.

Well, I knew there would be problems when they put that CF front end on the thing. Worse, the airbags never deployed.
