Little Darlings, their footballs and "It's only a car". In a way, the parents are correct, it is only a car but why should it be damaged to the detriment of the driver's vision simply because they cannot either control their kids or be bothered enough to take them to the park.

This won't buff out of the windscreen. My daughter will be gutted, it's her car!

Could you not make a case out of that? small claims court or something?

EDIT: and on topic, my fking ex, she is making a god damn mess of things and somehow thinks whining about how she doesnt now what to do anymore to me is a good idea

Not without upsetting my daughter's mother - and I know you'll sympathise about that! As per the other thread, it had been parked on her mum's driveway while daughter was in Italy. I collected it the other day to clean and polish it and was told by daughter's mum about the ball bouncing incident just yesterday. Her neighbour's kids are a real PITA with regards to driveways and are always playing football or riding their bikes on it simply because it's the largest one in the street and is usually empty.

Unfortunately the presence of daughter's Swift didn't deter them in their game playing. Daughter's mother has said she doesn't want to cause problems with her neighbour and had already asked if the kids could sod off (politely) to be met with the "It's only a car" response. Daughter is back in the UK now and will be here in a couple of hours. I'll get her to drive the car tomorrow and report back on whether or not it affects her visibility. I "noticed" the damage on the way here and wondered what it was, but I'm used to looking through a heated screen so may be less sensitive.

(But I might have made all that up and it really was knackered wiperblade that caused a crescent shaped, football sized scuff during a kids' game of football about which the kids and their parent acknowledged the fact that the ball had hit the car. rolleyes )

Some PHers and their determination to undermine someone's writing and then attempt to pick holes in their reported experiences despite not having a clue about events that have transpired. That annoys me beyond reason and is therefore topical for this thread. Those people deserve to have a football kicked at them in punishment or maybe thwacked with a worn wiperblade - whichever one that will produce a football shaped mark on their face.

Stains on clothes.

Not the 'fnarr fnarr' type, they wash out. But the stains (butter seems to be one, as does whatever leaked in my bag last week) which despite multiple washes, many applications of Vanish (have you seen how much that stuff costs?!?!) still wont fking come out. 2 fking t-shirts (one brand new) and a hoody ruined in less than a week. FFS.

Be careful with it.... Mrs BristolRich got something (a dark mark) on a new white top of hers. She washed it multiple times and in the end resulted to Vanish.

Result large bleached "splodges" all over and the mark still there. New top in the bin. Lesson learnt!

The toaster. It has a life of its own.

You can set the dial to 'how brown you want your toast'.

It never does the toast enough, so you pop it back in again and before you know it, its like an episode of 'Backdraft' in the bloody kitchen.

The dial seems to make no difference to the true 'brown-ness' of the toast. Annoying? - very.
Would you be interested in a Talkie Toaster?

Regardless of it's 'only a car' I would have thought that the marks in the line of vision, so would be a MOT failure. I had a crack in my windscreen, about two inches off the bottom, well out of the line of vision, but it was a failure and that cost me £75 via the insurance for it. Apparently £75 is the normal cost for a windscreen via insurance now, so I would say the neighbours owe her £75 if it fails.

Extroverts: loud and noisy. Don't know when to shut up and let others speak. Terrible at remembering anything about anybody, or anything in general for that matter.

The garage.

Car is serviced this morning - first visit to this particular outfit.

"Oil service and microfilter, sir?" "no, just the oil and brake fluid - as confirmed by email"

90 minutes later back in the car - service light still illuminated.

"It's the microfilter warning - as you've not had us replace it."
"But the iDrive says it's asking for Brake Fluid - the one you replaced"
"I'll just come and look..."

5 minutes later "I'll get Jake to re-set the display"

So glad their service and systems are closely monitored to ensure my driving enjoyment and long term value in the car are enhanced. Not. Perhaps I should check if the oil and fluid really have been replenished.

And the microfilter is 100% necessary to maintain the interior air quality, especially when the car is fitted with a sun roof. But I'll still replace it...

I assume that is the filter then air that makes its way into the car interior is filtered through. If it is, firstly you can get some nasty bugs live in there and also it's often the reason the air conditioning doesn't work properly.
