This is also a disease that blights the newly-refitted Stansted (I know - council). There seems to be no "by-pass" to get round the hordes of travellers who suddenly think they want to go shopping. After security all I want to do is get to Departures, have a quick drink, get on the plane and get the hell out of there. An airport should be like a bus-stop, not a lifestyle experience.
...but the airports make their money from getting you to shop, hence they make it hard for you.

It's the same reason that toilets in department stores are always a long way from the cafe.
God help us id IKEA ever build an Airport then frown

That makes sense but I don't find it to be the case.

The three department stores I visit mot frequently (Debenhams Doncaster, HoF Meadowhall & Harvey Nic's Leeds) all have bogs right next to the eateries.

Here's a top tip for you to help avoid that, at Gatwick South terminal - When you go through the Security, DO NOT take the escalator down, there is an exit from security which takes you out on the same level and you can then go down the main escalator and avoid the duty free shop. To find it, follow the signs for disabled customers and you'll take a short corridor which comes out on the upper level near where McDonalds used to be.
Alas I'm a regular at the North terminal, there used to be a straight passageway through to departures on the right after security, they've now blocked that off so you have to go through the Duty Free bit. Plus after an hour on the train, the transfer shuttle, and getting through security my first stop after security is usually the loos which are right were the now closed route came out, but instead I have to walk another couple of hundred yards to get to them rolleyes

Ah. North Terminal has changed a lot since I last went through, and I don't work there quite frequently enough to know where you can go to avoid such issues. Such is there desire to extract the most money from the general public, and their stake in World Duty Free as a business that they make it so you have to go.

Don't forget - none of the businesses at Gatwick (or probably other big airports) pay any money directly in rent - they have to pay a share of their profits to the airport, so the more money the shop makes, the more money the airport makes, and the less money you take with you on your travels...

It’s slightly more insidious than that. Some websites monitor your cookies and change pricing just for you. So if you’ve browsed for the flight before, they can change it. It is often worth browsing incognito at the same time to compare if you have already looked online.

Sports within news reports.
I can just hear it now "The world is about to end in 10 minutes but first over to Paul at the sports desk who has some important information regarding sleepsleep"

Also weather reports. Must be the only job where you can consistently be wrong and still keep your position. Plus why tell me what the weather is doing now...shout I already know that I can see out of the fking window!

Additionally, why do they spend half of the time talking about weather that has already happened? The evening news' weather bulletin tells you what the weather has been all day, which means that I switch off and then miss the actual bloody forecast.

Which, of course, is an entirley fictitious and pointless transmission in itself.

DPD

Do you understand why i have paid for pre 12 delivery?
Do you think i would do that if i just wanted it sometime this week?

I have things to get on with, customers waiting for me to arrive with the kit I've ordered for the job

Oh and your website tracking which currently states "We are currently experiencing issues retrieving your parcel information at this time. Please try again later." is not much 'king help!

Also, people who stop in stupid places, especially at an airport where most have wheelie cases so take up more space. There's the numpties that stop and block the route through the aforementioned duty free shop, then the other day there were the couple who stopped for a chat blocking the top of an escalator, plus the couple who decided to stop for a conflab right in front of the one way doors to get out after baggage claim, the people who decided to stop for a chat at the narrowest point of the corridor...
I hate people, generally speaking.

When coming across the above scenarios, which seems to happen more and more lately, they get interrupted with a "Yes, this is definitely the most intelligent place for you to have a chat" as I walk past.
