I do have a full list of the cards in a spreadsheet (Unlimited through to Homelands - if I had only started playing/collecting 6 months earlier I might have had some Alpha cards that would have helped pay the mortgage off ... ah the hindsight ;-) ) - if anyone wants to PM I can provide a copy - and I would listen to any reasonable offers - though I would prefer to sell the lot in one go.
PM sent smile I'll run the collection by my mate and get back to you - he's always on the lookout to expand his collection (which is already at insane levels)

Played this at a housewarming of a friend the other week, i am an old hand, and between me and my friends we are all pretty heartless monsters playing this. The Fiancée on the other hand, she said she never really wanted to play it as it sounded awful. However as it was just me, my Fiancée, the new house owner and my best man playing, she tried it.

She only went and bloody won! though was a tough game with 13, 14, 14 and 15 the score.

She had one card and remarked "Can i borrow your (work) phone to google a word as she didnt know what it meant"

I hand her phone, she checks and goes "OOhhh" here's your phone. I pick it up and the google search for 'Bukkake' is still there....i knew what the word meant already.

The black card of "The new ____________ monument in Trafalgar square" or something like that. guess which card she used.

Love her more now than ever smile
It's the quiet ones you have to be careful about.

One thing we always do is have a 'Rando' player. We prop up a teddy bear or some other toy on the table and put a small pile of cards in front of it. On each round the player reading the cards will take one from that pile. If nobody claims the winning card, it is assumed they have won. It can be really funny as the card is totally random so is often completely absurd. Often they win.

That does remind me of a friend who despite being about 25 and male at the time (he still is male but is older now) had no idea what that meant. I just told him to google it, but image search would be best.

Just ordered exploding kittens NSFW, never heard of it before. We've been playing Uno in the pub for a few years now so hopefully this can mix it up a bit.

We've had a few bkings in the pub for getting carried away, by the sounds of it this should continue.
What a great game! Easy to learn and proved to be quite tense at times, I highly recommend it.

Just purchased an expansion for carcassonne inns and cathedrals which adds an extra player and some more rules and tiles. I think I may be addicted....

We had friends over for most of yesterday, after a roast lunch the games collection was raided...

Carcassonne a bit with all - from 4yo to 35. Same for Forbidden Island.

Kids wanted to do some other stuff so we broke out Battlestar Galactica for the first time. After an hour of getting stuff setup we realised none of us had a bloody clue what was going on, so back in the box it went and Exploding Kittens came out!

Having now watched a couple of YouTube vids, I think I've got it.

Why on earth don't the companies relating these complex mechanic games use the greater clarity of video to explain how it works with the 20 page manual held in reserve?

Just to say, 8 games [Forbidden island] in over the weekend 6 (just me and the 6 years old), the other with my wife and daughter. My son loves it, though has to be the one to get the lion with wings.

You can see him start bossing about his sister (9) on how they can 'work together' to ensure he gets the 'lion', which even though she had 3 lions went along with it, and the unnecessary messing about caused a loss.

Very good game. He worked out quite quick that we don't need to worry about certain cards, just the core elements/landing pad.

can't recall if I've replied to this thread before but we play Catan, various versions.

Dominion is great and easy to pick up.

Manhattan - ridiculously simple but infuriatingly unfathomable - the swings in points between rounds can be baffling!

Magic the gathering - played a bit of this and once you have a GOOD grasp of the rules its fun.

memoir 44 classic and brilliant although can take some time to set up.

recenly bought cards against humanity and oh my lordy...utterly brilliant but not so funny sober...

amongst others we play Tikal (cracking mechanic to get the treasure), Dungeon Lords, Tide of Iron, plu smany more.

hopefully going to go to Essen this year.

my good friend plays even more and if you want something huuuuge (like basement size) try Blocks in the East, blocks in the west!

these strategy games are brilliant for social interaction!

Quick heads-up for anyone interested, looks like they've reprinted Pandemic Legacy and it will be back in stock at most places next week. We finished our play through last week and it was fantastic from start to finish.

Can someone remind me next week!! Legacy is the normal game plus the one use game isn't it?

On another note I've played the expansion 1 of carcassonne and now feel like I need to keep growing my city so expansion 2 and 3 may be required!!

Excellent. Was talking about Pandemic being our next purchase, so it'll be this version.

Am I right in thinking you can play the normal game to get familiar before kicking over to the one time season?

Yes you can. I'll try and update the thread when I get the email about stock coming in.

Went into my local games shop yesterday - bought regular Pandemic, and pre ordered Legacy for £45.

Then bought a coffee and had a cracking game of Forbidden Desert with the owner of the store.

Pandemic a huge hit - three games last night, I'm certain my OH and daughter will be playing it today as daughter is off school ill.

I noticed you're in Chichester, where is this shop as I'd prefer to pay a local shop and at a more reasonable £45.

Top end of North Street - it's fairly new, called (imaginatively enough!) Comics, Games and Coffee.

Owen, the boss dude, is brilliant. Doesn't sugar coat things, but gives good advice and is always helpful - even with my two kids. Recommended.

He said he should be getting stock in a week, and the £45 is preorder only, so get in there quick.

Off topic (ish), but always happy to meet up with fellow PHers for a pint and natter.

Another place that I tend to use for my burgeoning X-Wing miniatures habit is www.chaoscards.co.uk

They're due stock shortly and were the ones who e-mailed me about Pandemic Legacy coming back in. On their site there's a feature to ask them to e-mail you as soon as they get stock in. Their price seems to be £50 for the box.

As said, we finished ours just over a week back and must have got 18 full games out of the season, which I think is more than I've played most other board games, so don't feel short-changed and I paid £70 for our copy.

Looking forward to seeing how other people react to the campaign and discussing some spoilers (with tags obviously!)

Superb, I'm at Goodwood all day tomorrow for the members meeting testing so I'll make time to pop in and preorder.

And likewise about a pint. I think there's quite a few members local but all the meets are in the new forest it seems.

I'll drop you a PM - mental this weekend but sure we can sort something soonish. There are quite a few locals, but you're right, all the meets seem to be either Hampshire or up on the Surrey border.

Now there's the start of a good idea...

I am mainly playing Star Wars Armada with a mate, and Magic with some other friends.

I have only been into magic for about 5 months and played about 8 games in that time (gaming and hobbies on hold while wedding prep is ongoing (3 weeks....oh god!)

But i only started playing when Battle for Zendikar came out, but have sets from origins, Bfz and gatewatch.

However with Shadows over Innistrad, this will be my first card rotation of old sets being unusable (we play standard, so only newest 5/6 releases are legal) so still very much learning, but i do enjoy it.

I shudder to think what i have spent on booster packs alone!

Other game we are all enjoying a lot is Fantasy Flight's Imperial Assault. Star wars dungeon crawler\ strategy game.
