Can anyone recommend any games that remain enjoyable and do not become so predictable when played with just two people?

Pandemic Legacy (start with season 1) is an incredible experience with just two people, it's coop and I'd suggest perhaps controlling two characters each.

Wingspan works well with 2 as you're playing to maximise your points rather than against the other player.

Hive is only 2 player, expansions are crazy expensive for what they are though.

Regenwormen/Pickomino/Heckmeck and Sushi Bar work well with 2 but is a quicker game as less stealing.

Some enjoyable 2 player games that come to mind are Azul, 7 Wonders Duel, and I think Splendor was quite fun too.

They are quite different to each other but all have a strong tactical element, so you can vary how you play from game to game.

The Undaunted series - Stalingrad probably the best. Note that they are wargames

Good shout there, played that one around this time last year and my brother and I really enjoyed the campaign.

Definitely this. Just utterly superb, with a very compelling storyline to play along with...

Had stratego as a child and loved it...very clever premise.

PS - don't feed the troll.
Had never heard of Stratego until I watched White Gold... Which is a superb series!

We've just got the Chocolatier Azul for Christmas - looking forward to that one.

Splendor - if you can tolerate the theme, the Marvel version is actually better because it introduces another scoring dimension.

I've always enjoyed Cards Against Humanity, but I've just picked up a set of Kids Against Maturity so that my wife and I can play with our kids (8 & 10).

It works on multi-layers. My kids were crying with laughter at the toilet humour and my wife and I were having a private battle of innuendos as part of the same game without the kids having a clue what we were finding so funny.

I got bought Spy Ring as a kid in the '70's but I think it was one of the ones that came with no instructions on how to play it. Does your one have the instructions in?
Can you guess where this is going? wink

Slight tangent.. but someone MIGHT be able to do me a favour...

Does anyone have a copy of the Magic the gathering 4th edition ruleset? (Ie from c1995)? Either hard copy tgey coukd scan, or an online link?
Have found lots of references to changes in rules, and current rules, but no copies of the original 4th ed rules.

I recall they came as a small card sized paper booklet in the starter decks you could buy back then

Why am i asking?
Back.in the '90s i used to play Magic the gathering with a few mates.

I have box of cards from that era (4th edition i think, plus one or two of the expansions in '96/'97 or so...(ice age maybe?)..

I've not touched it in 20 years. But my kids are getting to an age where i could dig my cards out.

It seems its still going, but looks like its evolved somewhat in the last two decades. I can't remember exactly how to play, but rather than use my old cards to the newer rulsets (which i can find online), would like to use them to the original, 4th ed rules that they were based on.

Hence the ask if anyone has a copy, or knows of an online copy.. :-)

Thank you :-)

You must have been searching too hard (we all do it!), that was the second result when I googled "MTG 4th editions rules" smile
