I like that car. I know ... shoot me. Not convinced as a town car though.

That photo has encapsulated a lot of Council. I wonder what the owner does to afford that though. The number plate is attempting to spell 'Fast', ie speed. Independent pharmaceutical retailer perhaps? To restore balance, this is what a Mercedes parked on your driveway should look like.

Am I alone in thinking whitewall tyres are a bit council?
On a ChavRover yes, on a classic Merc no.Trabi601 said:
I'm starting to realise that a large proportion of posters here haven't ever seen a naked lady, judging by their reactions to a photo of a pretty average middle aged (ish) woman in not particularly revealing or flattering lingerie.
Someone who's posted twice as many times in 11 months as I have in almost sixteen years (!) probably doesn't get out much either. OpulentBob said:
On a classic merc, they look more hipster than council; still undesired. My father recently replaced the tyres on his W108, he went for whitewalls and he says he now regrets it as it looks a bit "bling" (his words not mine)
I do get confused... Seems most of the time round here "a bit council" has nearly the same meaning as "tasteless and showy" or bling. I think whitewalls would grate terribly against the mexican hats on my 107SL.Trabi601 said:
Buying your sofa from the kind of place that does multi-year 0% finance on sofas is incredibly council anyway.
Exactly, this 0% bullst just tricks people into thinking they can afford a more expensive sofa, when they can't.Buy what you can afford, if you can't afford it, buy a second hand one, save up, then buy it.
Why do so many people have this feeling of entitlement. These marketeers love you lot.

But what if you can afford something and 0% finance is offered. Therefore you decide to take the finance while leaving the rest of the cash in your bank account earning interest and let the monthly payments roll out.Buy what you can afford, if you can't afford it, buy a second hand one, save up, then buy it.

2 reasons. Bank accounts pay feck all these days anyway, so why have something sitting on your credit report if you you're not getting any advantage out of it. (You will save pennies, maybe a couple of quid, at best).Secondly, the 'interest free' isn't really 'free' at all - it's built into the cost of the sofa. So I'd prefer to shop in places where they don't offer interest free, as it generally means better quality for the same price.
