"I'd like to be in xxxxx car" or "to get in this car I need to spend £xx"... Get 'in' the car? It just sounds stupid. Just say 'buy' or 'own'.

The fact that pretty much anything in life can now be classed as "council" and the pretentious idiots that are so full of their own self-importance that they look down on anything they don't necessarily agree with or adopt themselves.

'Sheeple'

Usually posted by those with uniform NP&E views on climate change / Brexit / UKIP / EU / Immigrants / US elections / BBC or pretty much any topic you care to name.

  • The people who post in F1 topics telling us how much they hate F1 and never watch it. Why the fk do they go into the "Formula 1" forum then? I have no desire to watch football but I never feel the slightest inclination to go into a random thread in the Football forum and start telling everyone that!
  • People who declare that because they didn't die when they rode around without a seatbelt as a child or whatever that it MUST be perfectly safe and that's all there is to it.
  • "Luddite'n'Proud" - this is like a weird race to the bottom where anything technological that's been added to cars in the last 50 years or so is declared to be not only completely unnecessary but in fact might be the work of Satan himself.
  • Those who don't understand how a capitalist economy works and express utter horror/disgust/despair at the realization that car manufacturers, like the vast majority of companies out there are looking to actually make some money.
  • "It'll sell like hotcakes" - this isn't so much annoying as it is sort of sadly amusing, someone will describe a pretty niche car idea that they would really like (and fair play - different tastes and all that) but blindly assume that there are thousands if not millions of others like them who will spunk 30k on it tomorrow. Often to be found in conjunction with "Luddite'n'Proud" and inhabiting threads about how a niche car manufacturer that made a similar sort of product has gone under - usually because not enough people bought the damn things! hehe

Opinion presented as fact. Especially annoying when it is quite clear that the individual knows the square root of fk all about the topic in question. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, however an informed opinion from posters who know what they are talking about often becomes drowned out in a sea of bullst. Rife in the NP&E section.

Smart arse posters who rather than being helpful, feel they are going to score PH points by calling the OP a liar, make pointless sarcastic comments, post a done to death PH meme and generally not add a useful contribution to threads. If you're going to be a smart arse, make sure you are smart, otherwise you just look like an arse.

Individuals pretending/claiming they don't know about major sporting events, contemporary culture, music etc in the hope that it will project the image of them being 'above it'.

Which leads on to this:

'Council' on PH now essentially means 'things I don't like'.

PH is a male dominated forum, so one should expect an element of willy waving however it seems that far too many threads descend into pissing contests of some sort. The attempted snobbery (and inverse snobbery) is imo quite fatiguing in its predictability and repetitiveness.

However, the thing that really gets up my nose is destination bragging.
Example: "I just booked first class tickets to (insert exotic destination here). What's it like? Any tips on what to do/see there?"
My question is, who makes arrangements for vacations, not knowing what they're letting themselves in for? Or is it more a case of, "Look how flash I am".
Exactly. I always wonder why they've decided to go some where they know nothing about. Sometimes it's a really well known destination like Paris or Rome and they're asking what's worth seeing. As though Rome has suddenly been built and only a few people might have been.

Then EVEN WORSE some complete wker replies with some noncey recommendation of a restaurant or jeweller and tells you to "ask for Sophie" as though they're letting you in on some awesome secret. FFS

That's a very old one. What would you prefer it to be called?

Admittedly I've never seen it on PH but it's a useful description in single-marque forums.

As mentioned previously, the use of shirley instead of surely is really annoying. It's not funny. It was in Airplane, but not here

No mention of coffee spitting/need a new keyboard yet? It comes up every time pet hates are aired and still the offenders keep doing it..

"Xxx..." Thread titles so you have to open the thread to find out what it's about and it invariably contains nothing interesting.
