License and breaks do my head in. It's a motoring forum, ffs.

People who have watches that get some wrist time should be shot. As should people who use painfully unfunny terms like scamera.

Bought/brought. The absolute pits is the very common "loose my license".

The general misogyny that's evident on here. Calls for pics when anyone happens to mention a female in a post. fking grow up.

Mean-spiritedness, e.g. "Got problem X with my car" responded to with:
- Your fault, you shouldn't have bought it
- You must be a bad driver
- Are you thick or something?

Threads with no boundary to what you could potential write in response, e.g.
- What car can I buy?
- Anyone seen a car recently?
- What do you reckon about life?

On a related note (sorry, probably an annoying behaviour) I am going to add that what I really LIKE is when PHers clearly have real expertise, and you can see they're putting a fair bit of effort into helping someone else. e.g. The TVR Wedge forum is so generous it almost made me want to own one. Almost.

'Fast road' to describe a car setup.
That's a very old one. What would you prefer it to be called?

Admittedly I've never seen it on PH but it's a useful description in single-marque forums.

What does it mean? It could mean they've setup their car especially for motorways!

I get that it should mean tuned car but still with some compliance in the suspension to cope with our rubbish roads but it's usually applied to st cars just because they have coil over shocks fitted or have adjusted the tracking.. For me it smacks of the McDonald's carpark type of car enthusiast. To put it another way, I don't think it's ever been used to describe a Ferrari/Lamborghini/mclaren that's had its geometry or other component adjusted or uprated.

The place I've mostly seen it used is Elises and it's used to describe a car which has been set up as a road-car used primarily for "fun"; as opposed to a daily driver or track car.

I guess a lot of terms that service a specific, relatively technical, purpose get hijacked by people trying to be trendy; what you think of such terms probably depends which context you first see them in.

Cretinous car comparison threads, e.g. the MX-5 and GT-86 "not being good on the motorway" or "not fast enough 0 to 60". Well, duh! They don't make very good aircraft carriers either, but most people with functioning neurons can work that out without a thread on it. Shut up and buy that diesel BMW/French hatchback you've really got your eye on!

"Pulling the trigger". Are you really. You colossal bellend.

"Dangerously slow" is another amusingly stupid one. Usually used to describe something which is in the top 20% of cars on the road in terms of performance.

Indeed, although I would place it at a higher rate of around 95%.

People who put an unnecessary 'so' at the beginning of sentences. That's not confined to PH. It appears to have come from nowhere and suddenly become a perfectly acceptable way to talk.
Interviews with scientists.

In the usual course of discussing their work they would say something like :
"We wanted to ascertain the effect of strawberry jam on the integrity of children's lunchtime sandwiches, so we made a selection with a variety of breads and after maturing for the typical period of five hours tested them with a Sykes-Pickavant shear testing machine. We concluded that... (cont. p94)".

When interviewed by John Humphries et. al. he will be asked a question of the form :
"How did you go about testing the integrity of jam sandwiches?"
and will continue the sentence he would have spoken if he weren't being interviewed.

Over the past few years, this mode of response has come to be associated with serious, knowledgeable interviewees, so it has been usurped by shallow, ignorant fools seeking to be taken seriously.

Pull the Trigger

Usually uttered by the same watch-forum frequenting penis that sits in his car, on his own, taking repeated photographs of his wrist at such an angle so that the Porsche badge on his steering wheel can be seen in shot behind his over-priced Rolex. I don't know what impression it is meant to give, apart from a degree of brain damage.

This could be a new, stealth "cringe" thread if we keep it quiet...

The BMW E numbers thing. E39, e21 etc. I still have no idea.

Annoying behaviours would be a select group of posters who will try and drop in the odd "I am considerably richer than yow" comments on threads about jobs salaries etc. Although it's also a guilty pleasure to watch and see if they can resist.

Wealth whispers etc. (Another one for the PH bingo card)

We haven't done this topic for a while: What sort of behaviour, phrases, spelling mistakes etc annoy you most on this forum (or PHs in general) ?

For some irrational reason, people who call other people "Fella" irritates me. So does use of the word "loose" instead of "lose".

What's yours?
Accusing posters of being a 'troll' when it's just a different opinion.
